How does it do the tracking of sales? I know it tracks by cookie, it might also track by session IDs but I don't know the technical answer for that at this moment as we just installed NATS yesterday...but I will find someone who can fill me in.

Cookie is set for 30 days.

What % of sales do you get that have no referrer? Everything is tracked. If it doesn't have an affiliate ID it will have an in house one, so everything has a referrer.

NATS is good for both the webmaster and the affiliate owner...

Reasons why is because of the extensive programming that has gone into it on the programming and design. NATS has a strong stance against cheating webmasters using their script. They have no shaving features in the script...However everything can be tampered or fucked with...But they will can anyone in a heartbeat when they are caught.

NATS is constantly updating the features available in the script...Which is good for both parties as you get more fun tools and stuff to work with...

The functionality of NATS is what seperates it from the rest...Also NATS has a new feature where it has a FREE Statsremote type program for any NATS site (As they add them...Just email them if they aren't added to the db)

So that is why Lensman and so many others have chosen to pick NATS

My experience with NATS is that its tracking is below par.
Does it track by IP?No one has been able to tell me including Nathan from NATS.What other methods apart from cookie tracking does it use?Whay do so many sponsors using NATS treat foreign traffic different.A good % of my sales from NastyD and Bangbros come from non us traffic.Why does it seem that the aff code gets replaced by the sponsors own code when a surfer changes pages?
I personally wonder whether sponsors like NATS cos they are getting more sales with their own codes.
As for not being able to shave.Thats laughable.

I've only had a week with our new nats system but I have to strongly disagree with you. I don't have the tech answers for your questions but we will research and reply. However, I do believe nats is a major improvement for us. The stats, join and cascade features are simply a better improvement. We also asked our top affiliates what they thought when we were considering nats and they all gave it a very strong thumbs up. Our webmasters come first so we made the decision to go with Nats.

Now.. as far as your last comments. It's apparent from all the threads on this subject that anyone can mess with traffic although from all the threads, it seems nearly impossible with nats so again, it comes down to trust in the sponsor program and the people running it. In this business, reputation is everything and Mike and I have always, and will always, conduct our business above the board. I think your comments are indirectly calling myself, Mike, Lensmen and all the other standup sponsors using nats liars and thieves.

I think you should show up at the Phoenix show and say this to my face. Mike and I will pay for your ticket.

As for the highlighted section in italics - that would come down entirely to the sponsor & their tour... if they are changing that information, then you shouldn``t use them, and beyond that, i`d like to see a page that this happens, feel free to show me privately - 265103 @ icq.

As for the other sttatements & questions you made -

Most things online cannot be tracked by IP reliably because of services such as AOL. NATS does NOT track entirely by cookie - like some other programs.
However, NATS does track by cookie IN ADDITION TO link code. Every link in our tours carries the webmaster ID & other NATS specific variables. If a link does not carry that information, then it would fall back on cookie tracking.

So if you want to consider a sponsor for your promotions, do yourself a little homework, and browse the tour making sure that ALL links to additional pages as well as tthe join page, resemble your link code from the affiiliate center.

I can guarantee you that we track 100% through these link codes from referral code, to join page and any pages in between, if you find an error, let me know and it will be taken care of in a matter of minutes.

No, as of now it does not track by IP. It tracks via cookie and via the ref code being passed along the tour (which is two methods where many programs use one method). IP tracking is a bit of a pain thanks to AOL sharing IPs, etc. We are working to add IP tracking as a third fall back option but as of now the cookie/url combination works quite well. Most CCBill programs as far as I know ONLY use cookie not tour tracking so we're already a step ahead and above par, not below. And as stated, we are working to add IP as a 3rd fall back last resort check.

What is done with foreign traffic is called a sponsors business model. Some pay on it, some do not. That is up to them to decide. If they are deciving in anyway about it then let us know and we will speak with them. It is up to the sponsor program to determine their business model and you to choose whether or not you wish to promote that buisness model. What is done with clicks from China has no bearing on the quality of NATS itself.

As far as "codes changing when a surfer changes pages" If you have evidence of this and you believe it's being done to steal sales show us these examples and we will take the proper actions. Coming here and bashing a software and the programs running it based on a bunch of BS and random thoughts you have is very unprofessional.

You seem to have some sort of "hatred" of NATS for some reason. Why? I have no clue. You're in the minority tho and it's a very lonely place. If you don't like it, don't use it. Thats up to you. Coming here and bashing it with no basis and for apparently no reason other than you disliking it is childish, unprofessional, and speaks volumes about your character.

This thread was about Smashcom's program. A great program run by a great bunch of guys and I've seen their #s and their ratios are great, espeically for affiliates. Ratios across the board went up when they made the NATS move and they dropped the trials (and yes, they still went UP). That's for affiliates also. It was a good move on their part and has had great results for them. You still for some reason felt the need to jump in here and attack them and us. Again, it speaks volumes about you.

First let me say that I am flabbergasted at the response to my questions about nats.
I feel sick in the stomach that John and the crew at Smashbucks took my posts personal.The funny thing is I thought I was doing them a favour by bumping the tread.

Let me say that I consider MikeHawk a great person with a big heart who I admire greatly as a single father.I still consider him a friend no matter how he actually feels about me atm.

I guess my mistake was in getting involved with a promo thread.i should've started my own about Nats because that is where my query lies.At first it just seemed like fun to get Ellisa and John a bit of research .Unfortunately and unintentionally it got personal and for this I apologise as my posts were meant to cast no aspersions on the SmashBuck crew at all.

The heated posts about these types of affiliate software are always a firestorm and always end up reflecting very positive or negative depending on which side a person is on.. And at the end of the day this reflects on the Sponsor that is using that software as well. I guess I assumed the worst from your post and for that I apologize as well.

Mike has always spoken very highly about you and I hope we all chalk this up to a horrible misunderstanding. I hope we can still get some SEO work done with you one day. Lets still talk about that flight out here and let me buy you a beer instead!

Bottom line on this thread for Smashbucks is this: We as a Program need cascading to grab all those lost sales that would happen if we only used one processor. We need advanced stats for our affiliates and an easy to navigate program AND advanced features for power users. We need a system like this that is backed up with top level 24/7 support. And when we use a software to accomplish all of this it MUST be respected by the webmaster community. Mike and I can only fly to so many shows to put our faces and personalities out there for the webmaster public to get to know us personally and judge our integrity for themselves. For us, nats is the backend answer and anything else is playing with fire and not worth laying our business on the line for.
