I need HELP setting up a Serial ATA Hard Drive

Hey guys, I'm trying to install a 250-gig Maxtor Serial ATA drive on my system, but I'm having problems.

When I try to install Windows, it gets to the point where it asks where I want to install it, but the drive isn't listed there. I can TAB into the Sata Raid Bios, but it's telling me that there's not an adequate number of disks to create a RAID.

The thing is that I don't want to create a RAID, I just want to hook up one Serial ATA drive. Is my problem the fact that you MUST use 2 drives or what ? I've tried to change some options, but didn't really find the right one. The system DOES recognize the drive.

I'm no genious here when it comes to technical stuff, so please excuse me if I sound stupid, Serial ATA is all new to me

do you have a the floppy disk with the drivers? when starting to load windows it will say push a key to load specific drivers. that is what you need to do.

Hey man, thanks for the head's up, it got me past that problem. I dug up my floppy disc that came with my motherboard and installed it. I did bone up though and install one driver that didn't work, then I realized that I could scroll down and install the Via driver, but after installing the Via driver, Windows did recognize the drive and started in install, but I'm now getting an error that says KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR after it gets into the install process. I did see that same error before after I couldn't select a drive it came up with the blue screen and that same error.
