Do it if you can live with a "free cap". In lasik they make a flap on your eye which they flip back to do the laser incisions beneath. When the surgery is done the flap is flipped back over the hole, everything heals and you got 20/20 right? Well, about 85-90% of the time this is all well and good. But the other 15% of the time the flap becomes separated from the eye, know as a "free cap", and you're screwed! I have heard the flap comes loose from daily eye and eyelid movement, rubbing your eyes, or anything where there is direct contact to your eye like swimming and skydiving.
