Fisher Shot: Luck may well be a result of strategy.

Anyone stop to think that the Spurs made a mistake by not having Horry pressure Payton on the inbound?

So what if Payton was not part of the oncourt play, he just sat there and was allowed to find the best possible option. What good does it do to double Kobe on a .4 shot?

How does Gregg Popovich NOT guard the inbounds pass? How? How? HOW????? Do you really need to double-team Kobe there? It wouldn't have been more helpful to have Horry jumping up and down and trying to tip the pass? A few readers mentioned this, but it's worth mentioning again -- after Laettner made The Shot against Kentucky, I always thought that was the last time we would ever see the inbounds passer left alone. Apparently not. And where was Bruce Bowen in the final second? Did they keep him on the bench so he could make the Thomas Hill Memorial "I Can't Believe That Went In" Face?

    I wondered the same thing.

I think Payton called the original timeout to confirm that Horry would not challenge him, which in turn, changed his mentallity and approach.

In most cases, luck is the result of strategy

I think Duncan took a good shot. His main focus was to get it high enough to avoid Shaq blocking it and long enough to give it a chance.

He did both and it went down.

Same with Fish. His look at the basket wasn't horrible.
