Positive: Paul Allen Is Much Cooler Than Bill - Private Company reaches Space Finally

    Too much negative lately.

I am one that doesnt like to depend on NASA, i think they work too close with government.

Private Space companies are the way to go!

Paul Allen helped fund this first private space mission.

it may only be a rocket, but its a start, and it puts space in Man's hand instead of the gov and NASA.

I was reading something about that. The govt. has authorized private space launches out of the US as long as they are cleared first.

Good way to accelerate us into the Jetsons era.

Its a start, but first realize this is being done to further commercial flights for regular people.

No more will it cost 20 million for some rich guy to see space.

When I have kids, I want them to be able to see space, I want to, I dont want to be an astronaut, but I want to see it and explore it as well.

if anything at least now regular people will be able to taste the stars, THAT is an accomplishment of mankind. And a positive one.

"The X Prize teams hope to create commercial space flights by 2020 that would cost $100,000 round-trip, the Times said."

for 100k, tell me you wouldnt do?

        I know I would.

        and will.

100k a trip? not sure if they would get enough people to make it viable at that price. how much r&d, etc will go into it? they need to lower the cost by a ton imo.

Have you lost faith that the Government is "man's hands"? Isn't that why we vote? Aren't WE the Government?

I still have faith. At least until November.

I sit a few rows back behind Paul Allen and he loves my wife..

He's looked at my wife with fear in his eyes several times at the Blazer games.

He'd probably like to send her to space.

That guy has so many cool ventures on the go. He lost billions a few years ago with some of his internet investments though,

Which one though? He parked one of his in Vancouver last summer and it was massive, but I read he had an even larger one and it may be the largest private yacht ever built.

Someone with balls needs to step up and say "I'm fucking building a kick ass space ship" and then do it... too many dumbasses on earth. Anyhow this isn't big news, if you follow science at all you'd have known about it for a long time.
