    A school health worker in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK, advised a 14 year-old school girl to have an abortion after the girl confided in her that she was pregnant. A chemical abortion was started.
    The mother found out after a passer-by in the street warned her. Maureen Smith then talked to her daughter who then changed her mind about the abortion, but it was too late, one of the two tablets needed for a chemical abortion had been taken.
    Mrs Smith's solicitor A Donen said "The mother is furious. She is really angry about it. She is angry more about the process." Nuala Scarisbrick from Life, said "This is another example of the government's sex education policy being a total failure."
