It was decriminalized only for medical purposes and you have to buy it from the government. I think you also have to register with the government and you get a card stating that you're allowed to have weed on you for medical reasons if the cops stop you. Most of the time if you have weed on you when you're stopped by the cops (and you don't need it for medical purposes), depending on the amount they find they normally just take it from you if it's only like 1 or 2 joints.ICQ-46523581Comment

We just got back from Vancouver and thought it was fun to go hang out at the cafe and watch everyone smoking. We were too chicken to try to buy some around the corner at the hostel, but it was fun there even without smoking ourselves.

Its common place around here, but not legal.

It might as well be legal .
Once a week I travel by bus and I sit at the front doors of the NATIONAL DEFENCE building and smoke a fattie while waiting for the 86 ,
I walk down the road smoking without any real fear , because although its not legal , cops really dont care unless they suspect you to be carrying pounds of it .Comment

like said above it is decriminalized, this means u can have a certain amount on u and u will only get a ticket,
here in Calgary only 1 person has gone to jail for growing weed, and this is probly because he didnt want to pay the fine.Comment
