they offered 800 gig harddrive, but I only got one 120 because I have a crate full of external 250s I use, so I don't need the HD for anything but the OS.

forgot to mention, currently DWMX takes even longer to shut down. It's a full 10 minutes, sometimes longer for DWMX to close. Don't really understand that, but that's the deal. And switching from one site directory to another within it, takes about 5 minutes. (not loading the site cache)

yeah i agree, thats a lot of GB.

i said the RAID for having higher speed. I'm not exactly sure how the system works, but I was told it doubles performance.

you can save about $500 or more on the memory if you dont buy it from dell and get the same exact memory they will ship you.

nope. I don't run anti-virus at all.

on the memory, Crucial only offers the 512m DIMMs, and the system only has 4 banks, so I'd be stuck at 2gb of RAM..... rather have the 4GBs....

ahhh, yep, I found 'em. Still way cheaper though. Dell wants $2900 for 4GB. That's a huge difference.

The IBMs are too overpriced. One of their best systems is over $26k and still isn't the machine this Dell is.

you go to kingston.com and find the part # for the memory you need then you go to pricegrabber.com seach by part # usually is about 50% of what dell wants so if your memory is $1000 from dell it will cost you around $500 serching for it on pricegrabber

for the dell 650 it will cost you about $1200 for the 4 gigs of ram if you buy it online i just searched the kingston part # KTD-WS450E/2G you need 2 of these its a 2 gig kit.

yeah, just found those.... the 1GB non-ECCs are only $308 at kingston! That's less than half what Dell gets.

you have no idea what these machines are capable of. I have two of them, one as a fileserver, and the other as an encoding box. trust me, you need to do a little more research on them before going with a dell. you will not be sorry.
