This meeting was set up by Mubarak after the Rice visit was annonced and planned for over 1 month now.
Mubarak is smelling progress and opportunities and wants to be involved.
The US did not jump in this meeting for many reasons, among them because Israel asked them no to come, also because the US feels like best negotiations can oocur if no major power puts any pressure on either party.
As far as the lenght that this cease fire will last, it all depends on hamas and hizbullah.
As a side note to all of those who were calling for justice when Fletch XXX posted his Sionist love post about the Palestinian girl killed by a Jewish bullet.
Be aware that the Palestinian Authority has arrested and convicted and judged a Palestinian man who was shooting in the air to celebrate Aid el Kedir. The PA even matched the bullet from the dead girl to the Palestinian reveller's gun.
