they were probably responding to a call of burnt bread at the pizza place.
we used to get called to the hospital all the time after they upgraded their detectors. they were too sensitive and everytime someone burned toast in the kitchen we had a call out.

firemen around here are supposed to take the trucks out. I've seen them shopping at the grocery store. The whole crew goes though not just 1 guy. . . Leave it to the aussies.

It is normal for them to use the truck to go to the store for food etc. In some states here in the US it is illegal to get into a personal vehicle while being paid by a company for work, unless your company requires you to use your vehicle. Lunch time is not included in that.

thats different... if the dumbass decides to go by himself... and not take the crew... and someones house is burning and a little girl is stuck in her room... but the firemen at the station can't respond because one dumbass is at the store by himself..... thats not cool
