I saw last night, some company who analyzes which countries have the highest skilled programmers - out of a convention USA did the best... while indians were in like 20th place.

no this wasn't performed by CNN, it was simply covered by CNN. a big company actually had a couple thousand programmers go through an elaborate series of tests to determine who was the highest skilled - and i'm sure they based it on where they were trained, instead of where they currently live.Originally posted by SpaceAceComment

in general application programming (visual basic, foxpro, .net) i think russian programmers are amazing...
for web programming and backend development i have no doubt that america is on top there...
in unix/linux development (kernel, os, cli programs, x86 etc) europe is hands down the leader...
