How is it possible that some surfers are able to find galleries that I have not submitted anywhere? Some even find stuff I have not even made an indexpage for.

Any web site or page that you put in the web server's directories can be called though
HTML. Also if you do not disable directory browsing it can be searched just as if it is a local drive. Most of the time just changing the name on a pic a little is all you need to find more that the webmaster wanted you to see.
