The last time i checked, Kiddo, evolution was a part of REAL LIFE. Really, if you approve of this behaviour, you're not someone i'd associate with in REAL LIFE.

I've had discussions with many of my work colleagues/ associates on this topic and NONE of them approve of this behavior.. we all basically agree that it is an unfortunate and perhaps even primative byproduct of many conditions coming together but far from an essential or civilized one.

you obviously havent served in the military... you've probably never seen a dead body in person either. you probably don't know anyone who has been to war and told you they would commit suicide before they were allowed to be captured by a raghead becuase of the rampant torturing. that's evolution for you baby.

Saddam informed Washington in advance of his plans to settle a border/oil dispute with Kuwait with military force. Our administration at the time told him we (the USA) had no opinion on the matter.

Up until this, Saddam has been our ally, fighting against radical Islam, Iran, who had allied with the communists. We helped put him in power and supported his regime. Then Bush Sr doublecrossed him for political/economic gain.

With communism no longer a threat, he didn't think we needed Saddams help anymore. After that it was easy to demonize him because the vast majority of americans are completely ignorant of world history and world politics.

Yes, he "killed his own people" . . the same people we are killing now!; religious fundamentalists who oppose a secular government, who want Iraq to be an Islamic state governed by Islamic Law. Saddam did many things to encourage Iraq to turn from a religion-based society to a secular-based society with radical programs like mandatory literacy with threat of jail if you didn't learn how to read.

Yes, he "gassed the Kurds" . . while fighting Iran he could not fight a war on two fronts (forieign and civil), so he used what he had at his disposal to end the rebellion. The Kurds are not the good guys in this story. They are bastards too. They kill their daughters if they dishonor the family and all that crazy shit we hate arab cultures for. They have been fighting with Iraq and Turkey on and off for centuries over land they have no historical claim to.

America had a civil war too, but we don't call Lincoln a madman.
No doubt Saddam was a brutal fuck, as brutal as he had to be.
Our regime has been learning that lesson over the past year.

In brief, Bush Sr fucked up by making an enemy out of a valuable ally (the only strong secular leader in the middle east) and Bush Jr fucked up by giving Iraq over to religious islamic control (as soon as our troops leave). World history and world politics would be very different today if not for this father and son team.

If I remember correctly Iraq was the 'rogue' OPEC country that was responsible for lowering the price of crude oil from $40+ dollars a barrel to $4 ish. Why are prices now going up?

The scariest thing is that the guilty soldiers that do not get caught or somehow beat getting convicted will soon be back on American soil....living next door to you and your families.

Their actions are the highest form of treason. They have made a mockery of everything that the United States says it stands for....causing more long term damage then any precision guided missle could ever hope for.

Not to mention ruining the lives of the 100,000+ US soldiers fighting in Iraq. If you say that you can now look at ANY returning soldier without thinking for a second, "boy, wonder what sick things he/she did in Iraq" , then I would call you a liar. They fought for their country and now they will be treated with suspicion and distrust for the rest of their lives.

As will the United States probably for the most part.
I truly wonder how long (if at all possbile) it's going to take this country to re-gain its standing and image as a "beacon of light" as opposed to darkness.

I've never been to war and never intend to. I don't know how I would act nor do I know what's going through the U.S. soldiers heads who tortured those POWs. However, I do know that no matter what, taking photos was incredibily stupid. The U.S. military may never earn the trust of the world again..
