My day job/family business called and I stepped up to the plate there and that keeps me away from here. It's kinda like being in the mafia. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse, but I do check in regularly and still maintain a small presence in adult.
When you get back to Atlanta let me know, I would love to see you again, hang out, and just shoot the breeze.
I didn't know you had been involved in the pool business. I invested in one a little over a year ago & am planning to buy out the other partner over the next few months. I'd love some tips!

1) What was the best move you have ever made personally in the adult industry?
2) What was the worst move?
You are not bound to answer on the grounds that it may incriminate you and later be used against you in the court of gfy ;)
1. early on i developed a friendship with Al Fore (Al4a) and he showed me the right way to do things.
2. worst move was running an ad for the Paris Hilton/John Atherton fiasco, last year..
it came highly recommended from a friend, but it turned out to be a surfer scam. i took huge abuse for it on a couple of boards, while other sites got off scot free. as it turned out i never did get paid one nickel for the ad..plus lost crediblitity..
Shemp, I read every word of yours in this thread. You are an icon in the business and one of the few people I look up to. Although, the whole not sleeping with anyone in the industry thing kinda threw me. Damn it Shemp, I don't know if I respect you more because of that or just want to yell at you, "WTF are you thinking!? Nail them all my friend!"
It's been a pleasure to know you and I look forward to having some drinks with you again real soon

Shemp is a real classy guy. We have had 1am phone conversations as well... it amazes me how he will go out of his way to talk to someone like me for half an hour at that time of night. Just so darn nice.

What can I say? He's one of the guys who gave me some of the best advice when I was a newby. He's also always been a great listener, and understanding when I made a previous fuckup.
I hate the fact that he's dealing with this disease, and I wish him nothing but good health and happiness.
Thanks for the interview Scott... and Shemp... Cheers! If there is ever anything you need, you know where to find me.
I'd like to use this opportunity to wish Shemp all the best with his health and business.
Most people will NEVER be able to understand how hard it is to fight an illness like this. Not to mention, work at the same time, and maintain good spirits.
Shemp will always be tops in my books for two things:
1. I bet he is pretty much the only one here that remembers me as Sjayne and working for JJJ for years. It is nice to have your 'grunt work' days remembered.
2. He called me out of no where when Marc died and knowing his own health issues it touched me even more.
What you were working for JJJ ? I was in his top 5 trades for a good while ... his #1 trade for a bit too :P

i got assigned/transferred there for a while in the 1980's.
way too cold, very few good places to eat, no night life..
it was a ghost town on the weekend too, as all the government guys traveled back home..
its come a long way since then though....
i have to say that Hull and Gatineau, Quebec were always great places to visit and of course Montreal should be on everyones top list...
Things changed a lot budy Gatineau / Hull for the population are now the biggest club cities arround (compared to the population, there are as many clubs as a 500 000 people city) . Ottawa is now full of clubs too .
And there are a couple REALLY good places to eat ... just not steak yet
Lone star restaurent is one of them .
The only problem is the after hour scene . Ottawa city is so stucked up ...

I reviewed for JJJ for over four years (right up until he stopped using reviewers..then I went to Webinc) and worked with the Thumblords too. Chances are I have seen and approved or denied the galleries of pretty much everyone here that has been in the industry for that long.
Your interview fell off the main page and that didn't sit well with me, so I had to get in here and bump it back up.
Seriously though, very cool interview Shemp!
You're just a really cool guy. You are so much fun to chat with and I have learned so many things from you from the times we have chatted and from your forum on Medium Pimpin'. You are a very special person and very much appreciated.
I know! Here I thought I'd put up some money, diversify my income with all the changes in adult, get things running smoothly & then just cash my dividend checks from the beach. Not quite! It's so hard to find good staff that won't rob you blind the minute you turn your back.
It is nice to get away from my desk though.

I miss Lisa Marie,etc.

well, I took over the ThumbLords a long time ago, and heh ....... we do still excist and we are looking for new members/gallery reviewers and so on ......... and I could be your Lisa Marie if you want
the timeframe Rob aka The Shemp was referring to, I was a member of the ThumbLords (now I own it) as well and it was not Lisa Marie, but the members of the Thumblords that decided to help one of the most respected persons in this business.
just for the record
after checking old files I cannot find your name ( sarah or webinc ) and JJJ and Shemp were not part of the ThumbLords at the same time, first JJJ was a member and when he left the realm Shemp came in by invitatition of an now ex-member ( lostbush aka ammo ? )
