I raced karts toOriginally posted by crockett
I used to race laydown enduro karts.. still have it but haven't had the time to race in several years. We ran tracks like Daytona, Road Atlanta and so on.. pretty fun stuff
Started with oval karts then moved to shifters, then got a Midget and then an IMCA Modified. Oval racing on dirt is just too much fun

I'm into racing, as long as road course. I get bored watching a big pack of cars going in a circle 200 times.
Drag racing is cool though, cause its more or less a rediculous display of just how fast a car can go. I'd rather watch front wheel drive cars drag though, more of a challenge trying to keep wheelspin under control

mmmmm.
And before you ask why there's a wheelie bar on a front wheel drive drag car, I'll just explain it to get it out of the way.
A front wheel drive car squats under acceleration, taking all the weight off the front wheels, thus causing wheelspin. A wheelie bar stops the car from squatting, this keeping the front planted, therfore reducing wheelspin.

That is awesome, how fast down the 1/4 and does it have a crazy V8 in it or just a custom 4?Comment

the proper question is how many spare cv joints do you take to the track?Originally posted by CyberAge-Dave

What does the car trap?
On race gas my Supra puts out 686 rwhp. I'll be upgrading the intake and cams soon and aim for over 800.
It idles like stock, is quiet around town, and handles like a dream.

the car is no where near tuned or tweeked as of yet, the best it miled an hour was 170ish on a good day with good temps, its sittin on a small big block now at 520 inches with only 6lbs of boost and it turned 873hp at the wheels. Next year after the chassis is dialed in I got a 630 inch waiting and will crank the boost to 15-17lbs and it better run 6.90ish or I am gonna be pissed.Originally posted by Huggles

Believe it or not, its still the 4 cylinder engine under the hood of that CRX drag car. I'm not sure about quarter mile times, but my experience would lead me to believe probably high 7's to low 8's.
It's a great car, because its not going the route of the some of the other compact cars... putting in v6 and v8 engines and doing full RWD conversions.
I'll do some more looking to find out what engine powers it and what its times are.Need custom blog posts or articles? Hit me up: Blog And Article Writer

yea shifters are pretty killer, I drove one with the 250 cc Rotax motor up at Robelling Roads in Savannah, GA.. The thing would defiantly keep you on your toes.. It would do around 160-170 mph down the front straightaway was freeking insane.Originally posted by MrPheer

Here's the specs:
1/4 ET: 9.780
1/4 MPH: 147
60 Foot time: 1.510
Make: Honda CRX
Year: 1989
Engine: 4 cylinder 1994 integra GSR 1.8L
turbo's: Fastrax T04E
Boost Pressure (PSI): 40PSI (
)
They are aiming for 8 seconds now. It'd be interesting to see a video of this thing running

ya see 40lbs of boost is asking for repeated failures. But they need it when working with less than 150 or so inchesOriginally posted by PenisFace

hell yea they do, you're talking a 250cc Rotax motor I think it was around 80 horse power on a cart that weighs maybe 250lbs with the driver.. It was also a lay down and not the sit up like his picture.. So you lay down on your back, so the total height of the cart is like two feet tall if that.. So it's very aerodynamicOriginally posted by CyberAge-Dave

arca series? hooters pro cup? I am a huge huge nascar/stock car racing fan. My house looks like a racing store. I have life size cardboard cutouts of drivers and a few used tires from Bobby Labonte and Tony. I have autographed cars from Tony Stewart, Michael Waltrip, Darrell Waltrip ( tide car ), Steve Park and Dale Jarrett.Comment

Its the Winston West series. You sound like you have a whole race team living with ya. Where do you keep them all?Comment

Yeah the 250cc karts go that fast easily, they even have wings on them to provide downforce.Originally posted by CyberAge-Dave

Mine was 125cc, 6 speed gearbox, dyno'd at 46hp. Would hit 100mph in about 6 seconds and top speed right around 120mph. Could pull 3g's in the turns. Yes you heard right, 3 full g's in the turns. I cracked ribs more than once just from the g-forces in that thing. Shifter karts are brutal racing machines.Comment

That is pretty damn crazy, do they roll often or do they just slide?
And when racing, how big is the track and how many total racers average per race. I think I may of found another hobbie.

They sit real low to the ground and are pretty wide, its rare to flip one unless you slide off the track or run up on another kart's tires. The tires are very soft and sticky so they dont slide around a whole lot.Originally posted by CyberAge-Dave

Track is normaly a road course and less than a mile long. But with a decent straight you'll get up to 85 - 90 easily.Comment

a lot of people bash most supras' hp/tq curves, but as long as its not a drag car its awesome. it would be nice to have 800hp without having your eyes water from your exhuast when stuck in traffic. once i get some money a get oneOriginally posted by Huggles

Nice!
I'm running a DOHC 183 inch 6 that's never been opened from the factory, 30 pounds of boost on race gas, hitting 686. There is another Supra my friend does work for that hit 850 rwhp on the factory engine.
Crank that boost up! God, that must be a monster to drive. ( in a good way! )https://3-veo.com/

I'm really afraid Toyota is going to ruin the Supra... It'll be an ugly ass monstrocity that looks like the Celica, and they'll dump the sweet ass turbo inline 6 in favor of a Lexus V8. Not the same car at allOriginally posted by CyberAge-Dave

2007 Toyota Supra
On Sale : Unknown
Rumors suggest that this is the version of the next-gen Supra that is most likely to hit production, if at all. Drawing from the 1960s 2000GT, this retro-themed Supra may receive anything from a boosted V6 to a V8, or even a V12 in its top form. Though Toyota deny it, the Supra definitely will make a comeback in the near future.Comment
