    How Many Kid Students In Your States Dont Have Desks?

    While putting together letters to send the State Of California, I am coming up with wonderful facts.

                              Georgia had problems like that until they got the lottery. Now most of the schools there rock. The only real problem areas are the ones with high concentrations of hispanics because there are so many moving in every month that they just can't build schools fast enough to keep up with the increasing population.

                                      Over 40% of students in LAUSD are classified as English Language Learners, with 94% of these students being Spanish-dominant.

                                      the teachers cannot teach because here you HAVE to know like 4 languages to be able to reach any one group of kids... more startling stats.

                                      One of the largest budget cuts will be to the increase of class size. The LAUSD will save about $48 million by increasing the average class size for 4th-12th grades?bringing many classes to 40 or more.


                                      While the budget will be cut about 8%, the number of students enrolled in LAUSD will increase by over 13,000 to almost 750,000.

                                              They have even cut physical education I was told by my cousin (a teacher in Santa Cruz). I was amazed.

                                              So the kids even get their exercise cut back. That should do wonders for the obesity problem as well.

                                                  its so bad here, they had to knock off 17 days of the school year to make it cheaper.

                                                  more than 1/2 a month wiped off of education because we simply cannot house or feed, or teach this many kids.

                                                  The number of school days has been decreased by 17 days for many students in LAUSD.
                                                  To accommodate for limited space and for additional cost savings, LAUSD has a ?multi-track? system that keeps most schools operating year-round and shortens the school year. Students in these ?multi-tracks? receive 17 fewer school days of education.

I have been a long time advocate for changing the way that schools are funded and have contacted my former congressman multiple times about this subject. The primary funding for our schools nation wide comes from County property taxes...with some subsidiary funding from State taxes...first and foremost. The Federal Government does not play a primary role. This leaves Counties that do not have a good tax base at the bottom of the totem pole. There is a serious problem with funding for our schools and the funding system needs a major overhaul.

                                                                  And things ilke parking tickets in Los Angeles are almost $50, even in the ghetto.

                                                                  Its pretty twisted when you think about that in relation to minimum wage (6-7 $ an hour) and the state of the education system, among other things.

                                                                  I can't wait to see the stats on the increase in the homeless population in a few years.

I can't believe no one voiced outrage that we could spend money on $1,000,000 bombs to drop on dirt but we had to fire teachers for our children on a mass scale.

                                                                                              I think you are going to far in placing the blame on the immigrants Fletch. The flipside of cheap labor is cost savings to businesses and consumers that ends up redistributed back into the economy.

Instead of pointing the finger at mexicans and helathcare you/they/we should take a closer look at the way money is frivolously spent on bullshit.

                                                                                                                                          Take a look at why it would be cheaper to medivac someone to mexico than treat them in the hospital. Is that saying something terrible about illegals or is it saying something terrible about our fucked up healthcare/insurance industry? They are in cahoots yunno.

                                                                                                                                                                                  I am preparing info for hard copy letters I am mailing to my city and state about these issues, unlike some I try and do things.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Instead of arguing on a board I am cmpiling my list and gathering info.

A month later there was a welfare investigator knocking on everyone's door asking questions. Turns out they were lying about income and daddy was illegally here or something, and so I figure they got busted.

                                                                                                                                                                                      And I recall the dad being a security guard or something. I bet he got paid under the table too, as do most in that situation. So mommy collected welfare for the kids and saved up til they could get off and buy a place.

You can imagine how much that flight costed.

My base had paper supplies for printers for the next 2000 years. Not sure if that's funny or sad.
