Disney and Miramax are publicly traded companies, with only goal to make profits.
Now, in this case, they prefer to loose their investment and possible profits for political reasons... That is censorship at it's lowest moral level.

I don't want to take too much time to excplain to you the facts of theatrical business ( which I was involved in for more than 20 years), but a director such as Moore has a stake in the profits of the movies, as well as possible merchandising and ancillary rights. Also, a possible hit can only make easier the production of his next flick ( just as it was for this one).

Also, note that DISNEY is instructing MIRAMAX ( a well established art and quality film distributors ) not to distribute the film.

How would you feel if a radio network would sign Rush Limbaugh to an exclusive one year deal, pay him, but decide that his program will not be aired because of his political opinions????

I dont like Mike Moore. His stance on guns sickens me. He blames Columbine on the gun makers - an absoutely stupid opinion. There are two people to blame for Columbine and two people alone: Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Its not the parents fault. The guns didnt make them do it. TV didnt make them do it. God didnt make them do it and neither did the Democrats. *IF* there is any third party that shares any liability at all, it would be the drug makers - the people who marketed the cocktail of drugs the kids were on as safe for consumption when they are anything but.

But the gun makers have nothing to do with it. We dont blame the makers of screwdrivers when someone uses one to jimmy the door of your house or the makers of claw hammers when someone hacks up thier family, so it is absoultely absurd to blame the gun makers because someone used thier product for a purpose for which it was not intended.

The second amendment gurantees the right to gun ownership and thats the end of the fucking arguement. There is nothing else to talk about.

However, Mike Moore has the right to say anything he wants becauie the consitiution also gurantees one the right to speak freely.

Example. Let's just assume for the moment that the following statistics are correct (they're obviously not).

I could say that 1 out of 2 black people are thieves. Now, on it's own, that sounds pretty damn awful. Straight away, people are going to develop a bad opinion about black people. However, if 1 out of every 2 people in the entire population are thieves, then it's really got nothing to do with being black, and black people are no more inclined to become thieves than the rest of the population. Just a simple example how ommitting one statistic can dramatically change the way another is seen.

Another example of statistical manipulation is trends. People that watch for trends piss me off. If these fuckwits noticed that the rise in toaster purchases just happened to coincide with a rising murder rate, they'd suggest that toasters were responsible for people becoming murderers. And why not, the graphs match up!
