Return it and tell them you will pay the late fee later.
next time you go back they will say you owe them money, complain that you paid when you returned the dvds. they will credit your account and all is forgiven, trust me it works every time

Gah, you might as well keep it, and pay them for the video, the late charges would be more, and you'd have to hand the vid back as well.

No, they will charge you full price for each day, since it's really a one night rental spread over 24 hours.
The replacement cost on rental copies is about 90$ each, or at least it was for videos when I was working in a video store. That's why the manager always gets so choked when someone comes in and says their machine ate the tape.
I just close the account if I get a huge late charge. Come back later with a different piece of ID or borrow under a spouse or family account.

Videos don't cost that much anymore. And dvds usually cost the same as what consumers pay, $20-25. Video stores used to pay a premium because they would get movies before they were made available for home purchase OR they would get movies that were never made available for home purchase.Originally posted by Elli
