    Godaddy.com selling email addresses... READ inside

    I got a spam email asking me if I wanted to buy 70 million email addresses that were verified.

    They wanted $6,000 for them. They claim they are opt in emails.

    I peek in the headers and get this domain name as the mail sender.

    I go to the site.

    The phone number is:

    Which is GoDaddy

    And on the whois it shows that the registrar is WildWestDomains the name of their domain reseller program.

    Im pretty sure this is illegal.

      wtf ?? thats the godaddy privacy address !!

      Its just a whois privacy for your details , they arent affiliated with godaddy

                      Yes, its a privacy address, Hosted By WildWestDomains which is owned by Godaddy.

                      The phone number on the site for you to call to place an order, call it once, GODADDY

                          Smoky I know you know better, the phone number on the site selling the email addresses is GoDaddys phone number !

                              I didnt realise you meant the phone number was on the site and not in the whois..

                              Im gonna give them a call , but im pretty sure its the same company as they are using godaddy's signup and account forms..

                                              wehavethem.com is a godaddy reseller...all godaddy resellers can list godaddy's support number. ("Year-round 24/7 customer support for you AND your customers").

                                                  Ok im on the phone with a superviser now.. he is very confused , he says he doesnt own that domain.. The phone number is godaddy whois privacy , but they say the site is not theirs

                                                          Ok so the skinny is , ( as explained above in portions ) its not godaddy , its a reseller , that uses the support number for godaddy ( as does any reseller ) .

                                                          There is no way those email lists are from godaddy or from the domains by proxy.

                                                          no drama here sorry..

                                                          But , they weren't pleased he was selling those lists if that helps.
