Thrawn banner is a tad on the slow side..i always like quick flashing white/black backgrounds (strobe) as they get your attention quick.

It's all about taste indeed ..i've seen some pretty ugly 500k designs with blurry badly cropped logos win in the past
If the owner likes it end of story

I tried to make the warp thingy with swish..it's not the same but the approach is there

I had to stop working on the banner =/ I have a paying project I *have* to do and I'm having a hard time keeping the banner under 50k... but I figured I'd post what I was working on anyways. If you want me to finish it in the future for some $ let me know.

Thrawn, change the mouseover sound to a deep black man's voice and make him say something pimpish and send it to me. I think you did like umpteen million galleries for me if you're who I'm thinking of so you should have my icq and email. You're the winner ;) I think your banner is eye-catching, you chose a good pic to use, and someone looking to send some IR traffic will probably click it and take a look.

Bhutocracy, yours is tight too. Take out the text re 50.00 webmaster referrals and add something about the content available in the webmaster area - free galleries, premade mailers, video clips - and you can icq me and I'll buy that one too if we can agree on a price.

The bottom line in banners is whether it will a)catch a webmaster's eye and b)keep their attention long enough for the pitch to get across. I think both of these banners are pretty cool. I would have liked to have someone go for something humorous with maybe some freaky animation. Maybe next contest ;)

Piksal I generally hate the strobe effect but that's just me. Your banner is cool and you worked hard on it and I'll pick that up too if you want to icq me 2417874
