Imagine:

Your somewhat new in the porn business, and desire a little bit of privacy.

Then you find yourself standing in line at the bank with a handful of checks. Most of them small and from companies that have a generic "INC." name that can and have been explained away as consulting fees.

Your next in line and the friendly teller who recognizes you and calls you by name to say Good morning XXXXX, I'll be with you in a minute.

Suddenly you realize, one of the checks in your hand is from a porn company that has decided not to hide the name of their company on their checks. Your deposit slip is already filled out!

What do you do?

If the bank doesnt want my money, then I will go to another one - they have no rules as to not cashing checks and guess what????? They can easily find out the sources of those checks - they arent idiots

What he said. My pharmacist, 2 doctors, and the manager of my bank all asked me to make movies for them that they invest in. And, it makes it real easy for the models to cash thier checks when the tellers at the bank know exactly what I do.

You might as well stop caring now man and be proud of what you do instead. If you plan to be in this business for a long and still think you'll manage to keep it a secret to your bank that you are dealing with porn you are being frightfully naive, and like others said; Who the hell cares?!
I am proud of making a great living off porn and believe me the tellers at your bank would be too if they were making bank (haha?). I know a few tellers at my bank often try to get a hint of how this whole business works, fuck em, cash your checks and go get laid!

webmaster such as myself, so I sold half of my names because of the lack of programs online now adays that are paying the ones that are paying it is very little.

Being discrete is a good thing. I disagree 100% with all this advice in this thread to flaunt your affiliation with adult. It just makes good sense in this business or any other. Privacy is a good thing, boasting and saying more than you have to can get you in trouble, try to constrain your enthusiasm.

That said, the best way to do the check thing is to use generic names. If the company uses an explicit name, ask for direct WIRES. If that is not possible, then use bank by mail which is processed in a very wholesale manner.

Maybe I just like walking into a bank knowing I can at least pretend to work in a respectable industry.

Thanks for all the advice, but it was just really meant to be humorous.

At one point in time most people I believe attempted to keep their affiliations a secret for one reason or another, maybe not privacy, but maybe your weren't quite successful yet. Just thought this might bring fond memories of a similiar situation for some of you. It was just funny, I all at once realized I am about to hand this nice lady a check with a porn company on it, no turning back now.

A lot of you are saying how proud you are to give them that check because it is more than they make in a year.

I agree, if that were the case, I would have a photographer there snapping pictures of me cashing the check Just like the lotto winning ceremony. I would have had the sponser send me a 4' x 6' check like on happy gilmore.

But, this particular case was a check for under $100. I had larger ones, but this one was just from a program I didn't even know I had a check coming. I just grabbed the checks and headed to the bank. I didn't expect the balloons and confeti to fall from the ceiling.
