Here is an e-mail I got from my stepson in Iraq today....thought you might want to hear the opinion from someone that is actually there. He is a machine gunner on a Black Hawk helicopter in the 159th Avn Rgt out of Fort Bragg. He is also a great kid and I am very proud of him.

Hi Dad & KK
I am now almost two months down 16 to go. I am currently in Balad, Iraq staying in a luxurious condo(60 man circus tent soaked in kerosine) Enjoying my 5 course meals (ground beef, chicken, more ground beef, more chicken, and oh yea and MRE's). My stay in this tent was only supposed to be 10 days but now it has been revealed to me that it may bit a bit longer somewheres along the line of 45 days. Add that to my stay at the beautiful Kuwait resort with their 2 bedroom suites (20 man tent and port-a jon). It comes to a grand total of 3 months in a fucking tent.
I didn't sign up for this shit, but I don't blame anyone but myself actually. I joined because I woke up one day and said I have a crappy car and I am slaving in a fast food joint just to muster enough money to by a pack of smokes and take some fake ass bitch out every weekend.
I guess there was a better way to go about it all but to late now. Here I am Iraq, fucking Iraq stuck here with nothing to say otherwise. Viva Iraq. Better yet Viva la Bush. The big "W" what a character, I can't believe our whole purpose here has done a 360.
Well I am done ranting (for now). Anyway after this month and a half we are promised a trailer aka hootch no bigger than my living room to squeeze six guys and all there stuff in. Trust me when I say it will be a big improvement from what it is like now. The showers were broken today so we will be stinkin up da house tonight.
Flying our blackhawks here though is awesome. I love flying! It is safer then driving they say. I don't know, who ever computed that probably didn't take into consideration that there are alot more cars and a lot less roads then there are aircraft to airways. And I am sure they didn't add in some crazy fuckin Iraqi trying desperatly to shoot us down with everything they can get there hands on from a pistol to a machine gun to an RPG and those damn stingers. Thank goodness the bastards are a terrible shot and don't have a clue sometimes.
They however are very adaptive and I hate to say it but they are. I mean you take a country who all they know is war since the beginning of time and then tell them that they can't fight anymore. They just don't understand the meaning of not fighting somebody. We are no longer fighting a war but a uprising of the actual Iraqi citizens who don't want to be told what to do. Regardless if it is Suddam or some other assholes like us who think we are gods gift to peace on earth. It is another vietnam in my opinion because we don't even know who we are fighting anymore and can't trust anyone that has a fucking accent. But what do I know? I just work here and do my job to the best of my ability as I am told. I am, and always will be an American patriot.
I make it seem like I am in hell but its not that bad so don't worry. Believe it or not if there is anything I look foward daily is when our chopper gets shot at because then I can shoot back. Unlike these honorless bastards, I am a damn fine shot going 200mph at 50ft with my machine gun. So Alah Baba help these BIATCHES because I'm not.
