You should be concerned. You have a crazy person interrested in you for several years. You should be very careful. I would be concerned about your neighbors as well, not that they probably meant any harm or wrong doing at all.
They are simply living in Canada where nothing really happens much and it would be rude to NOT be friendly and answer someone's questions about you.
I WOULDN'T hesitate to tell them to keep their mouth shut about your personal business though, but that's kind of past tense now anyhow
