start-->All Programs-->accessories-->system tools-->disk cleanup
Let it run, delete the shit.
start-->all programs-->accessories-->system tools--> disk defragmenter
Defrag the volume (default is C: so don't change it). Defrag at least once a month, (I do once a week).

See if that helps before doing anything else.
