I don't see what the big deal here is. Oil is absolutely VITAL for the entire industiralized world. It is completely worth fighting for. Everything around you is a petroleum by-product. Your clothes, your furniture, your paint, transportation, heat, the roads themselves, every piece of plastic (which is pretty much EVERYTHING), communication infrastructure, etc, etc, etc..... The damn keyboards that we are all typing on for goodness sake!
You can all play at holier than thou if you like, but whether you acknowledge it or not, everything in your life, economy, health, etc....is dependent on oil. Without it, every country and socioty would collapse and we would go back to a totally chaotic fight for day to day survival.
If that isn't worth fighting for, what the heck is?
