Our new Vonage phone is GREAT! (pic)

OK, so the move to Cancun was pretty easy. Found a house (3bd/2ba on the 3rd and 4th floor) within a week....right on the beach with a fantastic veiw of the Caribbean, Isla Mujeres and the hotel zone. Got the phone line and DSL within another week or so (almost unheard of here) ...but the greatest thing is this Vonage DSL voice over ip phone! I'm sitting here in the office in Mexico and can call the US or anywhere with a US # and we can get calls here without someone having to call international. AND it sounds great! No international rates like 50 cents a minute. I don't work for them and I am not an affiliate....but if you have a broadband connection, make alot of long distance calls in or out of the country...try Vonage...you can make unlimited calls from a regular phone not a mic on the pc, to anywhere in the world AND recieve calls.... for something like $25 a month.

Well, maybe it's not the best thing about living in Cancun...but it is pretty neat...

Here is a pic of the sunrise the other morning...enjoy I know alot of you never see this time of the day, but it is where the sun COMES UP in the morning

That's beautiful!!!

And I love Vonage too.. I have one for my business line, quality is just as good as any other phone in my house. I think I pay like $15 a month only.

We love it here. We hate the hotel zone, but really love the real Cancun. The people here are great. My hubby, better known on here as Adult Site Traffic, speaks a little Mexican (not quite the same as spanish you learn in school), but me and our 16 year old daughter are still using hand signals to communicate

Cancun isn't what you see in the hotel zone...or what you may see when you venture into town for a day when you vacation here for a week. It definately isn't for everyone, but if you love the white sandy beaches and a fantastic carefree life...and can handle a total change....Cancun is one of the best places to be

When we decided to move here we decided we didn't want to live anywhere near the hotel zone and we definatly wanted to be on the beach...I guess our karma was good and we found exactly what we wanted.

There is another thread about it now and it seems like there are other products like Vonage that people like too....but so far the Vonage is working great and it sounds like your talking to someone right next door. Our Mexican phone line is not so good....

i just snatched up a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in yonkers ny for $1k a month (no utilities)...

You can live realy nice and pretty cheap here IF you know where to shop and you do things right.

We sold everything when we left Colorado, so we are just getting the place set up...more pics then.

Besides the hotel zone in Cancun, there really isn't anywhere but the area we are in. And even in the hotel zone, you may get a place near the beach, but not right on it and you'll pay alot more. We got extremly lucky to find this place and in Mexico, renting has more paperwork and legalities than buying a place in the US

We are renting this for atleast a year so we can look for a place to buy. But honestly...we may just stay here after looking around. Finding a place on the beach is really hard whether renting or buying.....
