'Jackass' teen dies playing in the traffic
Oslo - An 18-year-old Norwegian man was killed over the weekend after deliberately lying down in a lane on a highway south of Oslo in a deadly game known as "Jackass," reports said on Monday.
The man belonged to a trio of entertainers who dressed up in costumes of popular children's fiction characters. On their way back to Oslo after a tour of neighbouring Sweden, they stopped late on Saturday evening on the highway.
The teenager donned a white Mommintroll costume and lay down in the eastbound lane near the town of Askim.
The speed limit was 70km/h on that stretch, also signposted as the scene of many accidents, the Oslo daily Aftenposten reported.
Moments after the man laid down a car approached the scene. The driver managed in the nick of time to avoid hitting the 18-year-old. However, some 20 seconds later the teenager's luck ran out when a second car failed to avoid hitting him.
He died shortly afterwards while the driver suffered severe shock.
The man's colleagues, a 23-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, filmed the whole incident, witnesses told police according to Aftenposten.
The two colleagues face a two-year sentence for not preventing the teen from putting himself at risk
