In MOST of the rest of the world outside of USA/CAN/EU/AU being fat is not a bad thing. In fact its looked upon as being rich/affluent/comfortable.
However, in the US there seems to be a MORAL JUDGMENT against hefty people. They are viewed as lazy, stupid, ugly, dumb, or otherwise morally suspect. Why is this? Given that the US has an over 50% obesity rate, shouldn't fat people be more accepted in this society?
Moreover, as the economy evolves and people work more and more sedentary jobs, shouldn't our moral compass regarding body weight be adjusted?
Maybe with the rise of Jack Black as a serious actor, Americans are beginning to open their eyes to and be more accepting of MORPHOLOGICAL DIVERSITY than ever before?
DISCUSS.
(PS to those I've pissed with and I've called pigs, step off this thread)
