Give your surfers incentives to post. Hold contests, give out stuff that they can only get in the forum.
Have a banner rotation at the top of your forum. Do sticky's to your newest sponsor. If you have a popular surfer forum people seem to trust you more. Which means they'll have a greater chance of buying from you.

There's two ways to make money with surfer forums.
Either as the owner or a poster.
A good example of niche-specific site is http://66.154.81.226/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=
I do 1:80 to 1:200 with black video sites on that forum. There's many of them.
