The fact remains unclear how long they been there..anyones guess is just that at this point a guess.

Fact is though our troops have captured quite a few high up Al Q terrorists! We are fighting them there on their soils and not here in America .. would you rather they be fighting here or have us fight there? You can't have it both ways!

As far as being attacked here again it is always a possibilty..after all they did declare WAR on us years ago! We just ignored them!I think it's safe to say 9/11 woke our asses up!

Here is another victory for our Troops! TO bad no ones gives two shits when our Troops have these victories!

U.S. troops in Iraq capture 7 militants suspected of links to al-Qaida

BAGHDAD (AP) - U.S. troops captured seven suspected militants believed linked to al-Qaida in a raid Wednesday in the central Iraqi city of Baqouba, the military said.

Troops from the 4th Infantry Division carried out the raid targeting an "anti-coalition cell" that may have ties to Osama bin Laden's terror group, a statement from U.S command said. Seven suspects were specifically targeted in the raid and 15 other people were detained, the statement said.

Baqouba is in the so-called "Sunni Triangle," north and west of Baghdad, the heartland of anti-U.S. violence in Iraq.

U.S. officials claim they now have living proof that Osama bin Laden?s al-Qaida network may be behind some of the terrorist attacks in Iraq. The officials tell NBC News U.S. special forces captured a top al-Qaida leader during a raid in Iraq on Thursday.

Our troops are doing a great job! You should be proud of them! I am !
Hmmm..let's see here..now WERE these terrorists (Al Qaeda) in Iraq BEFORE we invaded them? Nope..even the great white hype GW Bush admitted that.

But thanks to the brilliant neo-cons in the Bush regime, we have succeeded in making Iraq the poster child or new terrorist recruitment and have opened up such instability that we literally INVITED Al Qaeda to come on in and get busy.

Thanks for proving my point. The operative words here are "has begun" as "in the beginning" as in "never were here before!"

Re-read your own quote: It said that they "HAD BEGUN" to make their home in the Sunni triangle.

                  Means: THEY WEREN'T THERE BEFORE.

How many are "quite a few"? I know of TWO that come close to being anything close to "high ranking" in Al Qaeda.

Fighting them on their own soil? We STARTED to..in Afghanistan, and then a slight detour by the name of Iraq came along and we let them re-group again in Afghanistan.

And do you honestly expect an attack by the Islamic Navy/Airforce/Marines when you say "at least we're not fighting them here in America!"

The concept of terrorism seems to elude you.

Bin Laden HATED Saddam and called for the overthrow of Iraq even before Bush the II got coronated in 2000.
Bush the II has officially said that there was not any Al Qaeda presence in Iraq as he had previously thought.

Yet it's STILL hard for you to comprehend this ain't it?

                        Hey idiot child..yes YOU Kingie:

From Leon Hadar, research fellow in foreign policy studies at the Cato Institute:

"Influenced by his neoconservative advisers, President Bush once portrayed the American invasion of Baghdad and the ouster of Saddam Hussein as a pivotal battle in the global war on terrorism. According to this view, the Baath regime in Baghdad had extensive ties to radical Moslem terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, and was in the process of stockpiling weapons of mass destruction (WMD). It was thus necessary to take the war on terrorism to Iraq to prevent the worst-case scenario: that Saddam Hussein would supply anti-American terrorists with nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and help them stage an even more nightmarish 9/11-type attack on the United States.

Well, even the president now admits that Washington has no evidence of a link to Osama Bin Ladin or to al Qaeda, and inspectors haven't found any WMD. If anything, the political chaos in post-war Iraq and the growing anti-American sentiments there has made the area a magnet for al Qaeda-style terrorists. Further, the fall of the secular Baath regime could lead to the election of an anti-U.S. and Fundamentalist Shiite-controlled government, not unlike the one that reigns in Teheran."

I would rather that we not fight them at all.

Which is why I advocate a complete withdrawal of all American troops from foreign soil and a 90% reduction in our military budget.

We should be like Sweden or Switzerland. Make money, mind our own business, and let the rest of the world have their stupid little wars.

Yeah that sounds like a great idea! perhaps we can send friendship cards to our enemies with "<I><B>please don't hurt us, we don't have anyone to protect us anymore.</B></I>" then we could all live in peace, with daisy chains and chocolate rainbows.

The primary cause of America's security/terrorist problem is that our government insists on deploying it's military to a hundred nations around the world and using that military to enforce contradictory and irrational rules.

How would you feel if the Chinese Army set up a base in your hometown and started bossing around the local politicians and raping the local women?
