They had battlements; didn't they notice enemy soldiers building a fucking horse and stuffing it full of weapons?
Why the fuck did the Trojans fall for that stupid ass horse trick?

that is how it was done. The Trojans saw them building the horse, they just did not know it was going to be hollow and filled with soldiers.Originally posted by zzgundamnzz

In fact, as I recall, there was one Trojan that did not trust it, and wanted to check it out, but some chick dissuaded him or the majority, and they went ahead and brought it inside the walls.
I have not read the Illiad in a while, and the Odyssey only touches on it very briefly.Comment

All myths have their basis in real history. Greeks and Trojans
were real people, Troy was a real city, with a real war. It's just
most of the facts have been forgotten and the stories evolved
over the years as they were passed orally.
Fiction did seem to flourish in ancient Greece however all fiction
has it's base in the real world. They loved a good story.
For a long time people believed Troy never existed however it did
and has been found and excavated. There were some 7 cities
built on the same site over the centuries.
It's entirely possible the Trojan horse is a metaphor for the
political situation of the time and the outcome of the war.
In reality maybe the horse never existed. However with walls 16-
17 feet thick and a 10 year siege, I'd find it easy to believe that
the Greeks built some kind of siege engine to help with their
assault of the walls. This story would have been a little flat and I
can understand people retelling it giving the horse a quality of it's
own as if it alone won the war.
I guess the fabled reason the people of Troy fell for it is their
pride and greed, which made it easy for them to accept. I guess
politics would have also played a part and they wouldn't have
wanted to bring more instability by refusing the gift. I'm sure if
the horse ever existed as it does in the stories then it wouldn't
have been the rushed bang together job we see in the movies
but instead would have been a work of art made to impress not
only with it's size but workmanship. Truth is it was probably just
a war-machine built to defeat the cities walls.

Ever read any of the bible?myth, just like 99% of the bible
The few bible stories you were probably told as a kid are not
good examples. Most of the bible is really boring, really
straightforward history. Shit there are whole sections dedicated
to nothing but listing family names and their status. It's one of
the better history chronicles ever put together. Gotta look past
that feather weight section at the back called the new testament
and flick through some of the earlier pages.

That is true. This is why The Old Testament is honored by Jews, Muslims and Christians alike (although it is called different names in each faith).Originally posted by mryellow

As a historical reference the bible can't be beat.
The New Testament is pure propaganda.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...
