I dont see why it is so damn hard to find a cordless phone that is expandable & can handle more than one phone line, surely someon out there has one!

I have an AT&T 5.8Ghz with a base station and you just add on extra phones in whatever room you want them
not sure if it can handle more than one line though -
multiline? dosent that like require an ISDN connection or something? where i come from multiline is something that my service provider offer as an service?Comment

Brother has one, and there are a few others whose names escape me. . . . .possibly AT&T - up to 4 lines, 11 extensions . .. .when they start paying a commission for suggesting their product I will start promoting them. . . . .go to office depot's web site, am sure you will find some thereComment

I had a 2.4ghz set from Seimens that handled 2 lines with multiple handsets, but the quality was crap and inside of a year the entire setup was unusable. When I tried to send it back to seimens, they said "nope, discontinued, no repair, no replacement, kindly play hide-and-go-fuck-yourself".
It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy another seimens product, and for obvious reasons I'd counsel you against it as well.
If you do find a good setup though, let me know. I've been using a couple panasonic 900mhz phones which more or less do the job, but not as well as I'd like.

you are talking about subscriber carrier, or a pair gain device. If they are using ISDN to do that they are certainly going about it in the most expensive way possible.Originally posted by mind

I have been doing telephone stuff since 1971, so I do have a slight clue of what I am talking about.
ISDN is/was typically used for broadband usage. 82A and 84A subscriber carrier were typically used for pair gain in individual residences . .. there was another, but I don't remember what it was called, AML I thinkComment

I work for the largest phone company in denmark ;) And ISDN is used for multiline purposes in denmark. for instance Telephone / Fax line, Office phone/private phone.
note: this is however only for small customers - business solutions with real multiline functionality isn't based on ISDN ofcourseComment

However, that is beside the point. . . . . you don't need a pair gain device to have multiple lines in a home or business, you can hardwire it if the neighborhood has the facilities, and ISDN or 84A, it is still changed to voice by the time you get it to the telephone, so would still be able to use a multi-line telephoneComment
