I don't think there is such a thing as a low maintanence dog. They all require care and attention when they are puppies.
I am picking up my first dog on Friday...a German Shepard pup. I believe I am going to have my work cut out for me for at least 8 months, probably more.SIG TOO BIG! Ok, now that I've given the mini-lecture you need to consider getting beagles. They are great dogs and very loyal. I suggest though if you do that you pick up two of them because they are "pack" dogs and the company of another dog is always welcome and in reality taking care of two dogs isn't much different than one and is easier in some ways.Hit me up below for all your advertising needs!

There are no low maintanence dogs.
Imagine having a 4 year old child who can't speak or understand your language,
with jaws that can chew through metal.
The only thing seperating you from disaster is dedication to raising him right.
That takes time, everyday.
With that out of the way, english bulldogs are probably the laziest.
Don't get any breed ending in 'terrier' if you don't like high-energy.
And have him neutered before 6 months old.
(or at the first sign of sexual maturity)
That's how you avoid humping/marking.
Some do it in early puppyhood, but there is good research
to suggest that this can cause problems with urinary tract.

My buddy used to borrow my pug just to pick up babes in sobe. It worked like a charm, and he hated dogs.
My pug literally sleeps about 18-20 hrs a day. Smart and easy to housebreak.Comment

But they AREN'T low maintenance, at least mine. They want interaction all the time. If I move from room to room, even if they're both asleep, they'll wake up after a few minutes to track me down. Right now they're on the loveseat behind me snoring up storm. When I go downstairs, they'll be there in 3 minutes.
Pugs also do shed A LOT. And can have breathing problems and some need their anal glans cleaned every few weeks.
They are the best dogs in the world, IMHO, but you have a be a little crazy to own one - crazier to own two.

I have a female Siberian Husky. Black and white with beautiful stunning blue eyes.
I got her spayed at 6 months old and it slightly stunted her growth. She's now 10 years old and barely looks 1 year old.
Nothing like having a full grown and totally trained dog that still looks like a puppy :-)
Complete and total babe magnet. I met my current girlfriend while walking my dog actually.
Everytime I walk her I ALWAYS get attention. People constantly stop me to tell me what a cute dog I have.
Siberian Huskys are total babe magnets.
But they are the MOST high maintance dog in the world period.Comment

I understand what you're saying. I've given this situation a lot of thought as well. But there are some cats that pretty much do the trick. Smart, don't shed, can climb, and look like leopards and/or tigers. They'll even play fetch..but it's more like 3D fetch...you can throw shit up in the tree and they'll go get it.Originally posted by juicylinks

I have a greyhound and these dogs take little or no effort to care for. Bassicly I let him outside 3x a day hahahahahaha the back door them come sit back at the comp and wait for him to come back in), Feed him 3x a day, and thats about it on some. I do like to take to friends houses and to park and all that other good shit. But really, he likes to just lay around all day. I have a couch setup in my office and somtimes, he doesn't even get off of it once. He also came pre-trained, he knows stay, no, sit, ect... Also hasn't gone in the house even once.
Best dog ive ever owned
