Except Microsoft is pissing consumers off. Google's first concern (from a public view anyone) is to make shit easier for people. That philosophy made them a shitload of money and people are happy about it. MS, on the other hand, made their cash by strong arming people into purchases. If push comes to shove, Google would have the upper hand in the PR battle and that should be enough to scare MS.
