    Why is going to hell bad?

    According to the bible I am sinner and a grave one at that.

    So why is bad that I am going to go to hell? All my friends will be there, I don't mind it at all, we'll keep on sinning

                              Religion likes to make you humble. You arent worthy, someone suffered for you, you should spend your life trying to make up for that etc etc

                              It helps repress the whole "i'm just going to do what I want, when I want" impulse that would have destroyed early civilization, but is perfectly acceptable now.

                              Hence religion = irrelevant.

The actual word used in the original hebrew is sheol. It means a pit in the ground. And the hades thing is quite confused by the references to gehenna. The research on it is quite interesting, but all those christians that fear eternal damnation should do some research on it.
