Yeah or you could take her to the Hospitol first too, they have to report it for her , so she would get both looked at medically an easier person to listen to them, and the cops would get the info too..Got any domains to sell?

yeah or the first place to go is the hospital as soon as possible afterwards. they need to perform test to get evidence of the rape and then they will handle the rest as far as the police and getting someone to talk to her like a doctor or something.Comment
-
Take her to get a rape test done at the hospital.

If you can talk her into it, take her to the ER so they can use a rape kit to gather evidence; although, by now, she's probably showered, so I don't know what they'll be able to find.Originally posted by beemk

The ER is, by law, required to report rapes to the police; but, the ER also has support staff to help her.Raven

Aww thats awful to hear, take her to the hospital ASAP before she takes a shower and washes evidence away. They will call the cops Im sure and you can get everything done at the hospital. My only thought is that she didnt want to report it because it might have been someone she knew? Hope all turns out well for you and your friend. Let us know what happens.. ***Peace***

I hope she hasnt had a shower since the rape.. you don't want to wash away the evidence. More woman should report rape...if they don't it just leaves the rapist on the street to do it to someone else.
Sorry to hear about your friend..

She should report it, especially if it was random. For someone to rape a stranger they will eventually escalate to more violent behavior. Don't get me wrong, rape IS a horrible and violent crime by itself. Date rape is more common than people realize but stranger rape really takes a much sicker individual. She needs to file a report and go in for a complete medical check-up immediately.Comment

you should defiantly convince her to report about the rape and the robery to the police.

There will still be plenty of evidence after showering. Skin under her fingernails (if she fought back), vaginal tearing, hairs, sperm, other bodily fluids on the clothes she wore that night. You seriously can't get away with rape. Not with today's science. Which is a damn good thing!Originally posted by C_U_Next_Tuesday

Rape is such a sensitive subject.
Just remember that even though rape is an incredibly horrific and violent crime, there are many victims who simply do NOT want to deal with the police and the questioning involved.
A lot of people who are raped feel they are to blame, that they 'could've done something' to avoid it happening.. perhaps she's in that headspace right now if she doesn't want to report it, and sometimes the police can flip things around to imply that it wasn't just 'happenstance' and that you 'brought it on yourself' in some way - not saying ALL police, just saying that I have experienced this to be a fact.
It's a really tough issue on whether to continually harrass this person to report the crime. In a way, it is like forcing her to do something she doesn't want, which is EXACTLY WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED to her, and so perhaps that is not the best way to go about it.
From an empathetic point of view I would say just support her, suggest to her that if she needs a friend to go with her if she chooses to report it to the police, that you will happily be there for a shoulder and someone for her to lean on (which inevitably she will need). If possible make sure that yourself or someone else goes in with her when she files her report.
I know there are occasions that the police will try to put it back to the victim so they don't have to deal with reporting and follow-up and INVESTIGATION of the crime.. (finding rapists unless they are repeat offenders or people you already know is really not that easy.. you can't just go DNA test everyone in the local vicinity). So if someone is in there then they can help protect her from this kind of harrassment.
Remember that Rape is evil and horrible, and even if your friend decides not to report it, she will still need to get support. You can best help her by providing HER with the phone numbers for the Rape and Crisis Relief, help her hook up with a counsellor.. show her that you'll be there to support her recovery, because I'm telling you from personal experience that rape recovery can be long, slow and very frustrating, especially from the point of view of the helper, but one IMPORTANT thing for the victim is to also be able to feel they are not facing everything alone.
Remember she'll be angry
Remember she'll be hurting
Remember she needs to know she can count on you (as long as she really truly can)
But remember she may also lash out.. this is perfectly normal, just put your arms around her (if you can, and it won't bother her or create flashbacks) and let her know she's not alone and you're there FOR her, not AGAINST her.
And most importantly, don't treat her TOO differently, because that in itself can make her feel worse.
I don't mean to sound like I'm lecturing.. this is a subject that I have a lot of personal experience with and I'm just trying to remind you that focusing on what the victim wants, even if it goes against what the 'society norm' is, is sometimes the best way to do it, especially with friends.
My best wishes go to you and your friend, I hope things work out.

I dont mean to sound crude, but did he ejaculate inside of her?
she may want to go on Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) in case her rapist was hiv positive. PEP only works within 72 hours of exposure so if she wants to do it she'll need to act fast.Comment

Then you should report it.... Let her know that failing to report a felony is a crime. I know it's probably hard for her, but she has a responsibility.Originally posted by beemk

She trusted him enough to confide her experience. Threatening to take away even more of her choice and dignity is not the way to keep her trust. While I agree that she SHOULD file charges, threatening her with a felony for not reporting is almost like raping her a second time.Originally posted by stev0

I had a guy hold a gun to me and try....... out of shear instinct I faked a seizure, the guy freaked out momentarily and I started screaming at the top of my lungs, he ran one way and I ran the other but the dumbass dropped his pager.... To this day I have no idea why I stopped to grab it, but I did and that is how they found him.... He had been known to do this in the past. I was lucky I didn't become his next victim.. She SHOULD report it to the police, but I agree with Trix here, forcing her will only traumatize her more. It happened to her body, it's her choice. She could have showered for 3 hours straight and there would be plenty of evidence left if there was a struggle. Keep us updated and wish her well.Need a Writer? Contact Me. beemk - she'll have to live with this for a long time. Suggest that she go to a hospital, suggest that she goes to the police, they will all be steps for her to move forward - by not reporting it, she's protecting him. If he's dumb enough to try to use one of her credit cards or checkbook if it's in there, they'll be able to put him behind bars. If he's on the loose, one day or another, he will do it again, maybe her friend, maybe her neighbour - and to make matters worse, he does have all her information (if she was carrying it in her purse or wallet, along with keys and such)
Suggest she get's help and that she reports it.
Tell her to be strong and have courage....I wish her my best.

She needs to go to the hospital for a rape kit RIGHT NOW! Not only could she have evidence on her body that could potentially nab and convict the rapist, but dhr nrrfd to be treated for potential stds and possible pregnancy. The morning after pill is only good for 72 hours. Get her there now!!Comment

It's sad but true that most people get away with rape. Of the people who DO report rapes, only something like 50% even result in an ARREST, let alone a conviction
