"And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed?if all records told the same tale?then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.
Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by hahahahahahahahaary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary." '"
It makes you have serious doubts about the credibility of any stats and numbers the media puts out to us and the government's numbers too I just don't have much faith in.
A lot of people don't even realize most statistics are extrapolated from a small survey. Sometimes they'll talk to 10,000 people and if 60% say they are against porn, the next thing you see in the news being quoted is 60% of all Americans are against porn.
Think about it. How many people here or do you know that have ever been asked a question in a survey? I know I never have. I can't think of anyone I know that has ever.

Apply this to any major religion. Frightening.
I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.

LOL, but when they are making presidential polls, then the results are pretty close.
It doesn't matter if you or your friends participated in a survey.
They simply ask people from different locations, different race, different levels of education, different financial status and then they get the replies and they scale them.
Heh, i was going to point out that SMH was an Australian website, and that it must have been AU$1.8m, but i just noticed the paragraph:
The market for domain names certainly influenced his decision, Maddox said, pointing to the recent sale of Men.com for $US1.8 million ($2.4 million).
