    Need Help, just lost job and have 3 kids and wife

    Today I was informed I was being terminated.. literally an hour ago.

    I have twin newborns that are 25 days old , a 4 year old and a wife.. ive lost my income and insurance.

    I am a web designer and php programmer and need work ASAP.
    I have been building galleries and TGPs and can do more. If anyone can help me an anyway I would appreciate it. I also know some server administration and know my way around Cpanel and WHM and such as well and Ensim control panels.

                          Maybe in your state. Here in Florida, the max they will pay out is 250.00 a week, they don't care what you were making before. I went from 60k to 250.00/week when one of the companies I work for went under.

                                                      do the unemploymen thing and make SURE you inquire about the COBRA plan, it is a plan that is mandatory in most states (maybe federal) that lets you keep your health insurance at the same low rate your employer has.

                                                      THEN kick it into gear with your own business. i went thru the SAME thing and it's tough but worth it

                                                                                                                                                                              Yes, DEFINITELY check in to the COBRA plan. You should be able to continue your current health plan for you and your family for at least 6 months and up to a year. Don't wait and let the coverage lapse!

COBRA is a bitch. The rules and details are mind boggling. I had to use it when I switched jobs once before.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Read everything twice, then call your plan administrator (from your old job) and get them to help you with it. If they won't help, call the COBRA administrators directly.

                                                                                                                                                                                  One typo can blow you out of the water - it's a freaking nightmare how it's run.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Grain of salt - I did this in 2001 so it might be better now.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Luckily when I lost a job (90's) the human resources person there handled all my COBRA paperwork and there were no glitches. Maybe my experience was unusual. Since I have a seizure disorder I could not get my own insurance, meds are super expensive and COBRA was a godsend. Worth checking out at any rate.
