I can't believe they think there is a strategy to leaving our solders to be tortured and die.

I think it's total bullshit and the fucked people in charge of this should be shot for being piece of shits.

if you negotiate for hostages, it sends the message out that you will do it again in the future, meaning more hostages will be taken. because governments dont negotiate it deters people from doing it because its fairly pointeless, at least for negotiation purposes

I see nothing wrong with exchanging low-level POWs.
It's not a tactical issue. (such as negotiating withdrawl)

Process our Iraqi prisoners. Clear the ones that don't present a threat.
Release them (those we would eventually anyway) and get our guy/s back unharmed.

But GW probably won't do that because it may blemish this cowboy image he has of himself.

remember: The alternative to POW is KIA. Those who value life should want the enemy to consider a live soldier more valuable than a dead one. If there's no hope of exchanging a foreign prisoner for one of your own, then there's no reason not to just immediately put a bullet in his head on the scene.

take a leaf out of their book, the us had operatives 'close' to laden and hussain before we launched our first ground or air attacks they told us this on national tv themselves, why didnt bush just send in a lone sniper or a marine to take him out?

simple it would have been to easy, anyone can kill a guy they want taking out of power but killing a guy they want taking out of power and sending a message to the rest of the world takes guts irrespective of whether Bush is a complete assclown or not he did what needed to be done his problem is he did it the wrong way.

CamChicks... if you give in to low level prisoner exchanges then they'll take TWICE as many hostages in hopes of getting a higher level prisoner from us.

When the exchange is refused then we'll get to see barbaric tapes of live mutilations and the like.

So its best all around to refuse from the start. A few may die but sooner or later they'll try some other way to get us to give in. There was a time in life, that I wouldn't have ever believed I'd think this way, but it's common sense.

That's what I'm talking about, if my fucking partner was in there I would say fuck the general do what ever i can to get him out.

If they don't take hostages then they will just kill people so have the theories here don't make any since in war you either die, become hostage, or go home,

Hostage is better then death and should be encouraged in war, and a exchange is a civil means for the action. Like chess if they got their pawn across and manage to get a hostage they get one of theres and if they get a general then give them a general. But don't leave them to die or get tortured that is fucking low life scum and makes me ashamed to be part of that establishment.

This makes me want to join the army as a sniper,

I think they should of just sniped all the head leaders of the militias blew up a couple building and called it a day it would got the point not to fuck with us but reverting the whole country was too expensive with lives.

Trust me, its more expedient to use a GBU-27 at $55K a pop anytime you think you have a bead on him.
