I've been outside of the US. I've lived in Canada, go to Mexico every year, and I think I've been to every country in Europe a number of times. In fact, I have a lot of family in Europe. I have never been to the Middle East but will never go for obvious reasons, or Russia for that matter. I can care less about South America.
There is a huge difference between the US and other countries. While it might common for you to go to lunch in another country, it's about the same as someone in the state of Montana going to Washington to go shopping. A fair portion of our states are bigger than entire countries in Europe.
It was Lane who summed it up best for me. Lane is from Turkey. I asked him once what everyone in his home country thought of Americans. He told me that everyone back home thinks Americans live in big houses, drive big cars, have easy jobs, and are lazy. When he got here he discovered the truth about the US.
The funny thing is that if you take a look at world history, it was Europe who dominated everything - Including both Africa and the Middle East. When England, France, Spain, and Russia pulled out....... These countries were left to fend for themselves. Ever heard of Trans Jordan? Who was in charge there? And now what?
