    The Brits Were Tough On The Early Citizens of the USA

    Watching a show tonight about the history of tools and hardware.

    Back in the 1700's when we were under British rule, the Brits declared anyone who manufactured or owned a metal shovel or any other type of metal tool was guilty of treason against the King of England and was subject to arrest and prison. Only wooden tools were legal for Americans to own.

    Can you believe that crap. Its so hard to fathom that the Revolutionary War didn't start earlier after hearing some of the laws they slapped on us.

                                                          I would just like to point out that the war of 1812 was over before that incredibly stupid attack by the Brits. The treaty had been signed, but news had not been received by the attacking ships.

                                                          Canada had already won the war with the US. Yes, you invaded us, and we kicked your asses back over the border, and also burned the White House.

                                                          And check out how your general surrendered Fort Detroit without a shot being fired.

                                                          Seems they don't teach that in 'merican history class....

                                                                      I grew up playing hide and seek on that battlefield.

                                                                      i know the brits crawled into chalmette long after the battle was over, and the stories ive read growing up there is that it was a total slaughter.

                                                                      the baratarians and even the negro workers launched cannon warfare and just slaughtered them.

                                                                      thats why they say its haunted there. i love that fucking place.

                                                                                  I grew up in Niagara Falls, and we had many famous battle sites. Also spent time in Morrisburg.
