I've had pugs since the early 70's and I've seen the back yard breeders and puppy mills just destroy the pug standard
PLEASE if you don't get a rescue, get one from a reputable breeder. Most breeders will have "pet quality" pups that don't conform 100% to breed standard that they will sell with a spay/neuter contract.
