the only coaches that are overpaid are the ones that constantly lose no matter where they go but still get jobs. Look at Buddy Ryan. He was a great defensive coordinator and so he got a head coaching job and sucked so they fired him. He ended up getting 2-3 more jobs and everywhere he went the players hated him, didn't want to play for him and the team lost. You don't see a whole lot of that anymore these days but still from time to time.

Of all the major sports the NFL players would be the most "underpaid ". There are a few guys that make 10 million a year, but the contracts aren't guaranteed. So if you sign a 10 year contract worth 10mil a year, two years later they can cut you and not have to pay you another dime. With the salary cap that football has the teams make money hand over fist and the players only get a small piece of it. The NFL is by far the largest, most successful sport in the US, but still has the lowest average salary for players. That's why the players try to get as big a signing bonus as they can. They may seem overpaid, but when you look at a sport like baseball you get relief pitchers that will only pitch 60-70 innings ( the equvilent of 7-9 full games a year out of 162 ) and they regularly get 5-7 million a year. Baseball players, if i had to pick one, are the most overpaid athletes around.
