the use of them has totally declined since the rise of porn on the internet. most people want to see porn rather than hear it. the visual stimulation is far superior.
not sure i would waste time/money on a 900 number when those funds could be directed towards a profitable adult site.Comment

If you are talking about using 900 numbers as a payment mechanism for access to web content, there are a cpl things to bear in mind.
- there will always be a percentage of users who want to 'pay by phone' rather than using a check/credit card
- the fees and cb's are by default higher with 900 numbers than cc/checks
In the end - you should cater to those who don't have/can't use/don't want to use a credit card/check by offering 1-900 subscription services. Consider it gravy/found money that you wouldnt of generated using checks/cc's exclusively. Bottom line is that if you are not using 900 for access to your sites money is being left on the table.Comment
