Yep, different dogs react differently to different foods.

We put Bandit on Science Diet when we first got him, and he smelled so bad it wasn't funny. We switched him to Solid Gold and he did fantastic...

Your milage may vary. Bottom line is what's best for the individual.

wow! Thanks so much for the info everyone!

Our family dog that lives with my mom developed allergies so he is on a special diet.......my mom cooks him rabbit, spinach and pinto beans plus omega 3 oil and he is a new dog, its amazing! He is 13 and is acting like a puppy. Its so interesting because it just makes you wonder what would happen if someone could control our human diet and feed us only things that are good for our bodies.

I used to go to this huge feed store in Pennsylvania where they had every brand of food you could think of except for Solid Gold. I had been a long time customer, so when I asked her why the lady pulled me aside and said "if I start selling Solid Gold, Science Diet and Eukenuba told me they would not ship me any more product, and those are my biggest sellers..." She went on to say that Solid Gold was much better than any of the major brands and told me I could get it from a small store in town. Our dogs have been on Solid Gold ever since...
very well spoken, i feed my 2 dogs the fish and grain version. its the best of the best from all the research i have done

I feed my 3 1/2 year old MinPin a BARF diet. You can do a search for it, but it is Bones and Raw Foods. You cannot believe the difference it made! Well, it stands to reason that a dog would do well on raw meaty bones and muscle meat, after all, they are carnivorous and would never eat what's in processed dog food of any kind if they were wild, right?

And a big big difference is BARF dogs and cats have less than half the amount of poop than dogs eating processed dog food. They use more of what they eat and don't poop it out. And what they do poop out is already disentegrating as if it has been out in the yard for a week.

The average dog eats in between 2.75-4% of their hahahaha weight. My MinPin is around 14 lbs and eats 3 raw chicken wings or 5 necks for his morning meal (raw chicken bones are fine, no cooked ones tho) and for his evening meal he gets 5.3 oz. of muscle meat, I use hamberger, and some organ meat, chicken or beef heart or liver. I also add some cod liver oil every other day for his coat.

I wouldn't change back to processed dog food for anything. He is so healthy and content. Take some time and just put in BARF Diet into any search engine and read up on it. You'll be very suprized

heh, ain't that the truth... The dog needs to lose weight, it only gets one meal a day no matter how much he begs. I need to lose weight, I can think of any excuse to raid the refrigerator.

And... we definitely take better care of our animals than we do ourselves. None of our dogs have ever smoked.

wellll Hellooooo Esa Esa & The Cult Jimmy....

                              cute dog!

....basically all dog food is shit, it's dead processed food, much like the human N. American diet, but go with whatever the vet recommends....Science Diet my dogs liked for a while, then they liked some other shit, now they like some other shit...

keep them off the human food and your olfactory senses will thank you ;)

that is clearly the best....for dogs and humans....good REAL food that isn't completely processed and entirely dead....

most people's diets resemble cardboard more than actual food...

What a cute dog.. I recommend IAMS and Eukanuba... those are the best of the best then one notch below that is Pedigree and some others.. My dog has had them all.. and I notice with pedigree she has upset stomach sometimes... on Iams or Eukanuba she is fine... My two thumbs up.. and enjoy your new dog! Congrats!
