The last supreme court decision on abortion was 5-4. Many people believe that as many as 3 justices could retire in the next few years. That, as I see it, is the bigger picture.

When I started the thread I never mentioned how **I** am going to vote. I just started a discussion.

I prefer to look at the big picture. Many on this board see things through very narrow-sighted glasses.

The point: Bush isn't as bad as everyone here makes him out to be, and Kerry definitely isn't as good.

I will still vote for Kerry just to change things up and *HOPE* for the best. I don't think he'll make life any better, though. I think he's more of a moron than Bush, but maybe he'll surround himself with better people.

Sooner or later taxes will need to be raised, it's just a fact of life .. you can't just keep running up credit, sooner or later you need to pay your debts.. or future generations are left with the mess - you will pay those taxes, it's just a matter of when or which of your decendants does the work.

this might clear up your muddy thinking : sure reducing by 500k the tax a rich man might pay might make him more likely to invest in new business, however reducing by $500 what 500,000 might pay might also increase jobs by injecting 250 mil into the local retail economy. Unfortunately you're not seeing the forest for the trees, sure one guy buying a couple of hundred dollar toys isn't creating a job, but half a million of them in a city will. There are millions more average and below average people than rich people with money to invest in new businesses with their tax cuts, poorer people also spend all their tax cuts which is a direct stimulant to the economy, rich people tend to invest and save it, which can or cannot create jobs depending on how it's done.

Both ways can work, sorry if you can't see that.

The war on terrorism isn't just a republican thing. The fact is Kerry will not only raise taxes for everyone but will fuck the economy and war on terrorism up. For those that might think I am off base. What are Kerry's plan for the war on terrorism? Hrm, let the unimformed majority decide or let other world leaders decide whats best for them not the U.S. How about his plan for the economy? All i heard is raising taxes on everyone that makes over 200k to reduce the deficit by half. Not that it's possible with just those tax hikes or does it deal with jobs or help put money in people's pockets. So you decide why you should vote for this guy.

Yes, both ways can work if everyone spends every dime they save. Instead of putting it in a bank. But, as a small business owner if I save an extra 500k a year in taxes which i can put back into expanding my business (which you have to get the tax cuts) and hire some more people.. and those people spend the money i pay them it has more potential to work.

You aren't willing to make any sacrifices, like paying more taxes, but you expect other people to do die in war for you?

You sound like someone who hates America, not someone who loves it.

If you aren't willing to make a personal sacrifice, then don't claim you really support the war or the country.

The same can be said of the other side tax cuts to the rich only work if they expand their businesses and not spend the tax cut on currency trading.
Poor people don't save, saving and investing is directly in proportion to the amount of money you earn.
That said though, I'm not advocating one over the other - quite obviously both are needed in varying mixes, I was merely showing the obvious fallacy in donovan's line of thought. I'm definately not against incentivising the rich with tax cuts. But as with everything the devil is in the detail.

Well with a Republican govt you have the 'moral conservatives' on your ass, with the Democrats it'll be the feminists. History suggests there are fewer obscenity prosecutions under Democratic administrations though.

Hey Donny, how goes it over there in CA? I miss my home state. As I'm about to disagree with you strongly, let me first say that no hard feelings, and anyone looking for content should hit up Donny... he does great work.

Anyhow, to the point... I think you've been living in a small, conservative California town too long! ;) Dude, you have been sitting here for a while now saying anyone who doesn't see things your way is a moron or an idiot or whatever other playground name you can think of to intimidate people to your side. You've bought into the "tax and spend liberal" label that you were handed by the Bush administration hook line and sinker. You don't get from a record surplus to record defeceits by not spending... you get there by spending like no motherfucker before you has ever spent. What sounds moronic to me is supporting a policy of taxing less while spending more than ever... which is what the Bush administration has done for more than three years now. Oops, facts fucking hurt. I can't believe someone is still trying to use that tired old welfare shit to rile people up!

Kerry sounds a lot like Clinton to me, and that means about $300 more per year in taxes for the vast majority of the people in this industry... less than half what fucking Visa took with their regulation changes. How can you sit here and call people idiots and then essentially argue that the policy that brought economic prosperity for almost eight years is bullshit while the policy that brought record defeceits, countless job losses, stagnant wages and general hardship is the way to go? And that's not even considering the damn morality crap we have to put up with during Republican administrations. Generally when confronted with the evidence, those who argue the general positions that you have just claim that Clinton was in the right place at the right time, that the economy would have bene strong no matter who was in office, etc.... whatever. Trickle down economics is what's bullshit. Amazing people still believe in voodoo economics.

As for the obscenity issue, of COURSE the sky won't fall, and OF COURSE the adult industry will be here long after Asscrotch is gone... the real question is how many people will see their lives and businesses wrecked before all this shit finally dies down and goes away? Whatever this person makes in tax breaks under Bush, I'm guessing he/she will pay a lot more than that if targeted for an obscenity prosecution. And anyone with a large sponsorship program would be a fool to think they're low risk. Content is only one thing the government will look at when choosing targets... they'll also look at who has the most money to take, making your buddy an attractive target.

In a perfect world I'd probably vote third party because few Democrats truly inspire me. Yet this isn't a perfect world and Bush is that fucking bad. I think most people would choose their economic position back in 1999 over what it is today... so if economic issues were the only concern and everyone voted their economic interest, Bush would lose in a landslide, and that's saying nothing about all the other equally important issues of concern. The Patriot Act, for example. To me this election is less about Kerry and more about getting Bush out of office.

                              End rant.

"The fact is Kerry will not only raise taxes for everyone but will fuck the economy and war on terrorism up."

He said he won't raise taxes on those not making less than 200k per year. You're assuming he's lying. Maybe, it's always possible with a politician, but you're assuming.

"For those that might think I am off base. What are Kerry's plan for the war on terrorism? Hrm, let the unimformed majority decide or let other world leaders decide whats best for them not the U.S."

First, how was the invasion of Iraq the war on terror? There was a clear objective in Afghanistan... get Bin laden in response to the 9/11 atatcks. Kerry has never questioned that mission, other than the fact that we basically abandoned it to go after Iraq. Also, when did working to gain the support of foreign leaders become a bad thing? Why would it be a bad thing to share the financial and human costs in Iraq with other countries who also benefit from the fall of Hussein? Why is foreign policy arrogance apparently a good thing?

"How about his plan for the economy? All i heard is raising taxes on everyone that makes over 200k to reduce the deficit by half."

That's because you're probably getting your information on his economic plan from the Republican party.

"Not that it's possible with just those tax hikes"

No it's not, that's why he has proposed spending cuts as well. Bush has been spending like a madman since he took office... thus the record defeceits. While the bankers appreciate it since we'll be making payments to them for years and years, it's not exactly sound policy for most of us.

"or does it deal with jobs or help put money in people's pockets"

Give $500 to a working family and they'll spend it. Give $500 to a rich man and chances are he'll put it in the bank. Additionally, those evil liberal government programs that people rip on so much require staffers, which means jobs. The number of jobs that have been lost since Bush took office is staggering. Seems only a small select group has been benefiting from all that government spending under Bush. BTW, could any of us get away with overbilling the government by something like 56 million dollars, get caught, say "woops must have been an accounting error" and NOT go to jail? Must be nice to have friends in high places like the White House. Yeah, that's an assumption.

"So you decide why you should vote for this guy."

                                Because Bush is worse.
