geez, why complain about free traffic? i dont get it. i havent submitted any galleries to shemp in a few months but his traffic has always been great and converts pretty well.

i just have gold, submitted a few galleries, dont know if they were worthy enough, shemp let me know.

After reading the first post in this thread, I got the impression that Rio was complaining... or he's really bad at wording... either way, he fucked up. Shemp didn't like it and he has the right to eliminate the account, so he doesn't have to deal with anymore moronic threads by this guy, which may cause question as to the value of Shemp's traffic.

Most of this has probably been said (I only scanned through this thread and haven't wasted my time reading post for post, word for word) but here are the facts:
1. You can't base a traffic pattern on a couple of days
2. If you are a newb submitter, don't expect premium placement right away, with time you will earn trust, which will inevitably bump up placement... and traffic accordingly (note: questioning traffic on a message board does not earn you trust!)
3. Quality overrides quantity... if you are only interested in boosting your clicks & your bandwidth bill, go with a CJ... if you want sign ups, go with a reputable TGP that has surfer trust.
4. If you are getting something for FREE... don't fuck it up. If you have a problem with something, it's wise to not complain about it... and if you do decide to complain, don't do it publicly... remember, you got free traffic AS WELL AS the opportunity the build up your trust AND earn even more free traffic.

Guess what Rio, you flunked this one.

I read every damn page. Sure I'm tired and it was like 5 am when I started and is now about 6:15am but it was well worth it.

I am so amazed at some of the bullshit people complaining here. It was free traffic and rio came across to most of us as he was complaining. I can understand how people see it differently but they seem to be from the people who aren't in the tgp biz. There was only one person who disagreed with Shemp who I know for a fact is in the TGP biz and that kinda shocked me.

I understand where rio was coming from but I also understand why Shemp did what he did. A partner account at a place like Shemp's isn't something you should be questioning. If you have to question it you really shouldn't have or even deserve the account. rio is new to all of this and Shemp did him a huge favor by giving him an account. And, I think that is where the problem lies. Shemp is an extremely helpful person and a genuine good guy. He made the mistake of giving the account to someone who hadn't really paid their dues in the tgp world because he was trying to help the guy out. Being a newbie rio gets listed a few times in a short period of time and questions the traffic? Had he been submitting for a year or two before he got the account at Shemp?s he would have known better.

I was amazed at that. Hell, when I got my partner account I didn't even get listed like that and Shemp likes me. I didn't jump on GFY and ask Shemp why I hadn't been listed yet. I've been around long enough to know how things work in the tgp world. And when I read rio's post I knew immediately that he was clueless as to what he just did. I would have given my right arm to have a Shemp account when I first started in this business. And the newbie is going to question the traffic or even ask if it's worth it? WTF? If you even have to ask it's time for you to go and come back when you know better.

And if you don't live in the tgp world then you?re opinion has no meaning. I can understand how you people would think that what rio asked was reasonable but it wasn't. Even if he worded it just right. You just don't do that.

And WTF is wrong you people. Threatening to kill people? How fuckin lame is that? And on a board even? Oh you mighty warriors. Please. What kind of a person wants someone to die over a listing that had nothing to with them? Maybe I shouldn't talk though because when I read your posts I wanted you to die to and had you made the comment to my face you probably would have. Bunch a no nut keyboard warriors. Grow up and come back when you don't have to hide what you do because at any minute mom and dad might walk in your room.

I have had a silver pass for about a year now. I thought gold passes were free and never realised you had to pay for them. How much does it cost for gold or platinum ?

I certianly don't complain about the free traffic shemp sends me, and I am sure he is happy to have a trusted submitter aswell. Its a win win. why complain ?

IMO, Shemp has the right to close whatever account he feels necessary for any reason he wants. I don't think it's up to anyone here to belittle anyone. Shemp's traffic is by far some of the best out there. The volume may not be what some of you may expect, but the quality far surpasses many other TGP's pulling 500,000+ uniques a day. He owns the joint... has anyone ever stopped and thought about that? If he doesn't like the way you comb your hair, he can cancel you - period.

It seems that RioSluts took it upon himself to find out why his traffic was doing poorly from Shemp. He chose to do this in a place that Shemp saw unfit. Shemp's email is available 7-11 style (Always open). He claims to think that he would have received a biased opinion. Take a look at the top slots at Shemp and then have a look at this URL: http://www.shemp.com/webmasters/rates.htm

Now let's think here. $1,500.00 for a 30 day slot in the #1-5 slot. Do you think they convert? Do you think he pulled this figure out from the depths of the darkest corner of his brain and posted it? Do you think that people only click the #1-5 slot and then ditch on Shemp? Nope, they do not. Sure, not everyone is going to make it through the entire list, and they most certainly won't make it through the whole list on a religious holiday, during a weekend when all of the kiddies are off from school and the wife is hounding you to come carve the Ham.

It's not up to anyone here to slam him for HIS OWN BUSINESS decision. He owns it, operates it, feeds it, nurtures it. No one else here does, so who are we to say? True, you can come back at this statement by saying that "Without submitters, there would be no TGP..." To a certain extent, this is true however, in this day and age - TGP owners have a plethora of FREE HOSTED GALLERIES to fill up their slots. Shit, some of the people here are even willing to build galleries for $5-$15 a piece (So don't even bother arguing the individuality of gallery designing).

Shemp surfers trust Shemp. They trust his decisions on what galleries he chooses to list, and with those galleries come sponsors. If Shemp trusts them, his surfers click if they are interested. And to be quite honest, I only want interested parties clicking my shit anyways. Blind linking to a non-existant FREE MOVIE only gets you shitty ratios, not sales.

I think what people need to remember (I made this same mistake in the past) is that numbers only equal out to what comes in at the end of the day. I would rather burn 2 gigs of bandwidth in one day with 4 signups than 100 gigs with freeloader traffic and get jack squat but an extra $50 bandwidth bill.

BTW, this has nothing to do with ass-kissing. This business is ALL ABOUT QUALITY. Stating that you do not need one persons help because you feel you can do it on your own is ridiculous. Those thoughts are the very same thoughts that will rip this industry to shreds which in turn will hurt us all in the end.

I missed this thread, wow what an asshole Shemp was. The guy just asked a question about Shemp's gold plus accounts, he wasn't complaining about the free traffic at all. TGP owners really are cry babies.

I just saw this thread and had to post. I havnt submitted galleries in a few years but I used to have a partner acct with shemp and get listed in the left collum between the 15-20 spots like clockwork on a daily basis. I was averaging 4-6 signups a day. Im not sure I understand how you cant convert that traffic if your submitting galleries for a living. Perhaps its your method of gallery making and not the traffic.

the way i read it he was asking for quantitative opinion of difference between a gold and gold plus and he specified his baseline of traffic.

I was expecting to see useful information like

how much traffic submitter were getting with a gold pass
and how much of an increase after the upgrade


ie well riot i was getting 1.3 every couple of days , but after upgrading went up to 5k per day.


maybe he should have worded it differently but your question would not get the same details.

is it so hard to understand that when you get a "FREE" submit account, you dont get to the top of the list in a couple of days.

a newb account has to pay his dues and work his way up the list, just like the 1000 other preferred submitters did..

i expect loyalty from those that have FREE submit accounts, not whinning..

a quick email to me from Rio, was all that was required.
after all, he emailed me to get the account so he knew how to contact me..

a GFY post makes for more drama though..
