I havent heard bout them in a long time. I remember working at adultcheck and bringing up the issue bout their hosting placing a full page style ad befor the warning page which lead to their own network of sites. So ac banned their services.... Im pretty sure other avs's at the time did the same.
What ever happened to them is beyond me.
Thats my only remembrance of them..Comment

oh christ, here we go (this version is still SLIGHTLY abridged - no Sextracker, bode, humbolt, or other drama) ...Originally posted by sandman!Long story its been so long i kind of forgot it
So the story goes, back in 1999 when brett and I were young gents, we got hired on at Sexhound. Well, not long after working there, we found out that SH had a pretty fuckin BAD reputation for being somewhat "slimy." Brett went to work for a long ass time rebuilding their reputation and eventually built up a crew of marketers who did a great job of building Sexhound's traffic to a pretty sizable quantity. Although I started as a programmer, then switched to working under Brett's wing - Ty (MovieTitan) was running their ads dept and ended up taking a crack at Running the company while Chris Ramirez went into "pseudo" retirement. So when Ty moved over to general management, I stepped up and began running their Ads dept. Looking back, the team really did a great job of raking our way through Chris's bullshit drama and we more than doubled traffic, and just about doubled their advertising income.
Chris, however, was a fucking bipolar psychotic drama queen, and although he was personally skimming $100k+/month off the top, he thought he'd fuck with shit a little. Secretly, he'd pull Brett and I aside asking if we would like to run the company. We were JUST 21 years old.... and of course jumped on the opportunity to run a $5M+ company at that age. So, we fed on chris's drama, the fan hit the shit, and after several months of utter poo - Ty ended up stepping down to run MovieTitan exclusively (looking back on it, it was probably a terrific move on his part). A brief side note - I ended up apologizing to Ty a few months later ... I was young, stupid, and power hungry... I think we're all over it now and just look back on it for a good laugh every now and then.
So back to the story - In late spring of 2000, we were at a crew of about 15, Brett and I were the figureheads of the company, and everything was looking great. Except one problem ... Chris was now in russia doing god knew what. His anti-depressants and plethora of HIV related meds had run out, so he was ... how you say ... "loopy." I was tired of having made this fucknut hundreds of thousands a month without collecting a commission, and Brett was in the same boat. Chris kept dangling carrots in front of us and never delivering ... no shit, his carrots were BIG .. "Hey Tim, if you hit $250k next month in ad sales, I'll buy you that Beemer you want." "Hey Brett, if you get a counter up on [insert large site here] I'll get you a Rolex." ... only problem was, THE FUCK'N BASTARD NEVER DELIVERED!!!!
To add to the drama infested self destructing company bullshit, We found out at that point that Chris MIGHT be starting a CHILD EXPORT COMPANY in russia (!!!!)!! This set off a few alarms (duh) in Brett's and my head. The long and the short of it was ... I demanded my Beemer, 3% commission on every dollar posted, and a doubled salary, Brett demanded the several dozen rolexes he'd earned, plus a sizable chunk of moola. We both knew he'd never pay up, so we just threw that shit out for the fun of it. Knowing we didn't want anything to do with the shady fuck, we took his 540 down to Vegas for the weekend ... I think we set a land speed record. Decided at 11 am on friday that we were going, cut payroll, told everyone we were heading out for "a bit," hit the road by 1 pm, and slid through Salt Lake City just in time for Rush Hour. Sometime around 4 am we rolled in to the strip, eyes blurry from being behind the wheel at 100+ MPH for god knows how many hours.
The next day we hooked up with Justin and Nick from Wicked, High rolled with them and partied like rockstars for a few nights, then cruised on over to Los Angeles and bounced up the coast for a few more days ... partying, driving fast, touring perspective companies, .... living it up =)
We cruised back to Seattle I think the following wednesday just in time for a conference call with Chris who told us he wanted us to relocate to Russia and (in fact) take a pay cut. We told him to fuck the hell off, and swore to put him out of business. 14 months later, his domain no longer resolved

Ah the personal drama of that company. I was there for just 11 months and when I left I tried to write as many names down as I could remember. There were 78 employees during an 11 month period of time (with an average work force of 10 people at any one time).
Revenue increased from 200k to 350k over that 11 month period when we were there. Revenue declined in the 4 months after we left from 350k to 110k.
About that same time, Chris was also in Panama. I got that message through the Bank where the companies main accounts were located, because she was trying to collect 17k in debt he had run up. (He said somebody stole his company debit card bought a bunch of shit with out his permission.) The bank said they would take care of the charges if he would send back the form attesting to that. They turned his account back on. They were trying to be nice and keep him with them. Anyway, long story short, he cleaned out the account never sent the form and so the bank tried coming after me for the money since I was a signer on the account. They didn't succeed, this was just before we launched dormangels, I had just returned to UW and I was pretty cash strappedComment

Still a great expierence in all... even if the company was full of questionable (to say the least) business people.
The network had over 20 million impressions a day, which was hot shit back then. 300k people moved through it's search engine and 1.8-2.6 million people were exposed to their splash pages. Taught us a lot about how to manipulate traffic. Not all of which is relevant now, but definately locked tim and i into a mode of analyzing stats and tweaking creatives.
Getting a slightly higher click through ratio can mean a 20% increase in revenue and have an exponential effect on profitComment
