                  em-bed you movie players if you want, but the people that go into sites and rip the content have ways to find the source and get the file anyway

                          I feel your pain..i spend fortune every month making content but people (myself included) want to download the stuff so they can watch from thier hardrive without waiting for downlods etc.
                          I think the only way to keep folks staying is to have a constant update procedure in place with dates on each so they know there will always be new stuff if they just wait a few days.

                              That's a very tough decision to make.

                              As a surfer, I once joined a movie site that promised tens of thousands of movies, I thought surely some of them would be downloadable, but as soon as I saw that none of them were downloadable I immediately cancelled. I think I also requested a refund of the trial price but I don't remember for sure. It's pretty frustrating to deal with streaming movies because sometimes you have connection problems and have to start the download all over again, you have to deal with buffering and lags, and skipping sound and video. Downloadable videos are a much more pleasant experience.

                              As a webmaster who has spent thousands of dollars on content, some exclusive, I can also understand the second point. I don't want my exclusive content all over the net being passed around by the leeches, either.

                              Personally I would like to offer my members downloads, anyway. After all, those that know the drill will join and cancel immediately anyway, whether or not the movies are downloadable, but if the movies aren't downloadable you might lose some serious surfers who truly intend to stay a member long-term.

                              I know this doesn't answer your question about what options you have, I just thought I'd lend my opinion on the whole thing for what it's worth.

I think more people will cancel within their first month if they can't download. It sucks that some people cancel right away, but not much you can do about it without risking lots of members you have today. I've seen some members cancel right away on your sites, but most of them stays month after month

After the download date they get a certain amount time on that one video and other videos so they cant watch them over and over on the hd after like 7 days
