    SAQ status

    For those in Quebec, can they confirm if the SAQ (the government owned liquor stores) is still on strike?

    I'm going there tomorrow to freeze my ass off in -35 degree weather and want to know if I should stock up on vodka before leaving Vancouver

          Still on strike, unfortunately.

          Only 40 or so stores are currently open. You can check on their website to see which stores are still operating.

          Whatcha coming to do in Quebec? Based on your french cursing skills, I'm guessing you're coming to visit family for Christmas?

                          That's exactly what I'm going to do in Quebec. Visit family and abuse my liver with booze. It's been so long since I spoke french, I just hope I won't order a "putain" when trying to order a "poutine" and vice versa...but on second thought, it wouldn't be such a problem. Just that one I prefer the "putain" without the cheese

                          Anyways, I need my booze to keep me somewhat sane in that cold distinct society. Looks like I found a location of SAQ nearby that will be opened after all. Thanks for the tip
